Cannot put music on my G1 Phone

When I try to put music on my G1 Phone it says that a wi fi connection iis needed. The problem is this phone is not picking up the wifi signals. A friend has stood next to me with her G1 and had no problem getting music from Amazon. Her phone picks up the wifi signal with on problem. Another thing I have hundreds of dollars of music on my computer and cant transfer it to my phone. Is there some software that will let me do that through the USB cable?

Thank you g2tronics. But I know that I don't need wifi to transfer music from my computer. However, I do need wifi to download music from Amazon. I have WiFi turned on. The phone is not picking up the WiFi signal. On the rare occasion that a signal was found. It did not last long enough to be used. I am also having problems transfering music from itunes to my G1.

I'm also trying to add music however I keep getting a message that says "Sorry, your SD card is busy". When I open the music file on the Removable Disk Drive I see the songs but it says I have no songs on my G1. Please Help!

If it is not picking up a signal Id say the phone is defective. As far as transfering music, its as easy as drag and drop. But dont do it from iTunes. You need to go to the folder on your computer where the music is stored and transfer it from there. It needs to be in the common formats of course...mp3, wma, etc.

To connect to a WLAN via Wi-Fi™:
  1. From the Home screen, find and tap Settings.
  2. Tap Wireless controls > Wi-Fi settings.
  3. Mark the Wi-Fi checkbox. Available Wi-Fi™ networks are displayed in a list under Wi-Fi networks. The available networks may be open or secured. This is indicated by the icon next to the network name.
  4. Tap a Wi-Fi™ network to connect to it. If you are trying to connect to a secured Wi-Fi™ network, you are asked to enter the security key for that Wi-Fi™ network before you can connect to it. The Wi-Fi™ connection is displayed in the status bar once you are connected.
Useful tip:
  • The next time you connect to a Wi-Fi™ network, the phone will remember the security key.
  • To enable Wi-Fi™ network notification of open networks, mark the Network notification checkbox.
  • To connect to another Wi-Fi™ network, just tap another Wi-Fi™ network in the Wi-Fi networks list.

I lose battery life fast why?

While using the HTC G1 there are different features such as watching YouTube, listening to music, programs running in the background, using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth®, constantly synchronizing e-mail that can drain the battery quickly.
To improve battery life, refer to the following information: • When you don't need 3G services, set your phone to connect to a 2G network. To do this, press HOME > MENU > Settings > Wireless controls > Mobile networks, then select the Prefer 2G networks option. • When your G1 is not in use, press END CALL/POWER to switch off the screen. • Select a shorter idle time before the phone screen switches off and lower the screen brightness. To do this, press HOME > MENU > Settings > Sound & display > Brightness and Screen timeout. • Use the AC adapter to plug your G1 into an external power outlet whenever possible. • Turn Bluetooth and Wi-Fi off when you are not using it. To do this, press HOME > MENU > Settings > Wireless controls. • Turn off your phone connection to GPS satellites when not in use. To do this, press HOME > MENU, tap Settings > Security & location, then clear the GPS satellites option. • Close battery-intensive programs, such as the Camera, when you are done using them.

How to put wifi in that phone??

Thanks for visiting FixYa!

The Mototola Droid Cell Phone has WLAN from the factory. That is, it has Wi-Fi 802.11b,g. So, you don't need to install it. Wi-Fi is already in the phone.

Here is a link to your owner's manual in case you don't have one handy.

To connect to Wi-Fi see page 4 of your user guide for instructions.

Wi-Fi connect

To connect to an available Wi-Fi router, touch Menu Key (bottom of the phone and just left of the center of the phone) > Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi settings. (And turn Wi-Fi on.)

Why cant my g1 download picture messages?

Have you tried turning your phone off? I know that with mine I dont turn it off for almost a week and my wi-fi goes screwy. Once i turn it off for 5 minutes the phone works like brand new. Also, you may want to check and see how large the picture is the G1 can only download a certain amount of mb (?) on a single message. Not an expert, hope this helps.

Cannot connect to the itunes store i must connect to wi-fi network to acccess the itunes store in order to download music. and i also dont know how to sync. and what is wi-fi

wi fi is wireless networking.  It requires the Iphone to be connected to a wireless router or access point to access Itunes on your phone via the internet.
You should reload Itunes to resolve the connection problem with your computer.
