Our Compaq Presario 1200 XL505 only has TWO jacks on the right-side of
the unit:
-ONE for stereo headphones
-ONE for the MICROPHONE - (or is it a LINE-IN?)
We're trying to record onto wav/mp3 - FM radio - from a Sony Walkman
when we plug in a STEREO jack connector FROM the radio into the
computer's
MIC (or LINE-IN) jack
...However, it comes thru only as MONO for some reason and we can't
figure out why...
The 'Volume Control' settings look like the feed is coming thru the
"MIC" area,
based on adjusting the volume bar control...
So, does this mean that the computer's FEED jack IS a microphone
plug-in only?
..and that it produces only MONO results regardless?
Anyone with any knowledge on this please post - thanks!

We need to use the jack as a LINE-IN for recording stereo radio onto
MP3...
Anyone know how that's done?

to find a PC-Card sound system with stereo audio line in that will work
for what you need. Video systems also have stereo audio inputs
available - Pinnacle comes to mind.
