Plug heater in & it just buzzes. The fan on motor turns easy by hand, but when it is pluged in it just buzzes & fan tightens up. I replaced the relay, but didn't help. It is a Reddy Heater 150,000btu. model R150B

The R150B uses motor #097308-06, has a split phase motor. The secondary windings, which give the armature a jump-start, have gone bad. The motor is not serviceable. Try reddyparts.com - they seem to have the most parts.

My pro 110 reddy heater worked last year this year it buzzed until reset popped also the fan motor does not turn

Many times a fan or heater setting over the extended unused period become blocked by mud daubers. I'd start by checking for one in the fan blade.

My reddy heater pro110 motor buzzes and trips reset button. fan seems hard to turn but will eventually start up and run after turning by hand a few times

You can try oiling the bearings. That may help, but the bearing are not replaceable so you may need a new fan motor. 3-n-1 makes an oil bottle with a long spout that you can reach inside the fan motor to put oil right on the bearings. Tilt the motor so the oil runs into the bearings.

Will the fan on the reddy heater not run if the ignighter is bad? When i plug it in the fan doesn't run.Do i need to replace the motor?

The fan motor runs regardless of the igniter as it is also the fuel pump. Possibly you may need to replace the motor but try this first. Remove the top section of the heater this exposes the fan motor, try spinning the motor by hand,it should spin freely if it does not try some light oil in the front and rear bearings of the motor and turn it by hand until it frees up. You may need to do this several times!! Now that it is spinning free put the heater back together and try it out. If it does not work a new motor is in your future. Hope this works out for you.

Header just buzzes when you try to start and the blower will not turn ( reddy heater pro155 155,000bdu).

Remove the top half of the tube so that you can see the blower. Try to turn it by hand to see if it is tight. If it is tight, you may be able to oil it a little and get it to spin easier. Another thing to check would be the compressor attached to the back of the motor. There are 3 screws that hold the filter cover on. Remove the filter cover. Next, 6 screws hold the cover on the compressor. Remove that cover also. Inspect the rotor for damage and make sure the 4 fins in the rotor move freely. With the compressor cover removed try turning the fan to see if it turns easy. Be careful not to let the fins fall out of the rotor. Now put the cover back on the compressor and turn the fan again to see if there is any difference from when the cover was removed. If it doesn't turn freely once the cover is reinstalled then the problem is in the compressor and you need to figure out where it is rubbing. If it is in the motor, you will probably need a new motor.

R150B Kerosene Reddy Heater-

Neither of you state the model of heater that is giving you starting problems. many of the motors have an external starting capacitor (relay). If so, you may just need that part, if your heater is equipped with one. On the other hand, many have an internal capacitor , which is not servicable.

150,000BTU kerosene heater won't start,just buzzes.

Your starting capacitor is bad. It's usually mounted on the side of the motor. If not, it's the thing that the motor wires go to from the end of the motor. Usually, less than $10.

try this, take off the top cover. plug in the heater and when the humming starts, rotate the fan sharply with a screwdriver. keep your fingers away from the fan. if the fan spins under power your start winding is shot. get a new motor. www dot desatech dot com
