If you know what you are doing, and you are good with technology, you can open the tv and check for any blown fuses or capacitors that may be stopping any power from going any further. Also look at the green light on the front of the tv and see how many times it blinks consecutively. Then look in the manual and see what it says the problem is.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

The chirping is very significant, it indicates that that power supply is inoperative. This could be:

  • a faulty power supply; and/or
  • a circuit load is using too high current and therefore the power supply has shut down.
Corrective measure to eliminate guess work would involve measuring resistance and then voltage checks on key/test points referencing a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram. It would also require familiarity with electronic components & circuitry, the use of a DVM and a soldering iron. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), then perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

If you are considering a DIY and feel comfortable working with live and high voltages, pls post back.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Hi!
I have a question, did you leave it unplugged for at least four hours?
Is there any burnt smell?
Do you pets?
So far it is leading me to believe that it is the power supply blown.
That costs about $150.00. Sears can fix it but charge $100.00 which is aplplied to total cost of repair.
Keep me posted please.

Why toymax magnavox 37mf331d 37 in tv worked good i turned it off came back to turn it on and it wont come on the green light that is usually there its not on ?

Fault with the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be on a separate board, or on the part of its main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

Will not come on if unpluged for awhile the red light comes on then when you try to turn it on the light turns green then nothing then the power lights go out

A weak power supply is the signal I'm getting. One of the first concerns would be to find one or two bad capacitors as the culprit. Always, on the first level of repair is to consider bad caps. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

Tv went off and won' come back on.

Most likely you will have to replace the power supply. It is a very common problem especially in newer electronics. You can test it with voltmeter or multi-tester. They tend to get worn capacitor inside the power supply due to cheaper parts
