Question about Dell Inspiron 8200 Latitude C840 Laptop Keyboard03J247 CD-ROM Drive
I have a Dell Laptop Latitude C840 and when I type on e mail every few lines, the words or a phrase will jump to another line. It is very frustrating to cut and paste every time.
The Latitude you have most likely has the touchpad plus the dreaded pointing stick. The problem you are having is also known as "wandering cursor" where your cursor will move around the screen on it's own. Try these solutions:
1. Go to Dell.com and download the latest driver for your touchpad. In the touchpad properties, try to disable the pointing stick.
2. If all else fails, I have removed the keyboard and disconnected the cable for the pointing stick which always solves this problem. If you decide to take this approach, you should know your way around the inside of your laptop, take anti-static percautions, etc. You can download a service manual for your laptop from dell.com.
