There were no symptoms of any sort last time I used it (last week) but when I went to use it today it just won't do anything, no lights, etc. It's a Servis compact model. I've checked the plug and changed the fuse, tried other sockets etc but still nothing. It's location is a very specific size and I don't think I will be able to replace it so would like to try to fix it if possible and would appreciate any suggestions!

Re: My washing machine is suddenly ''dead''
It appears your timer/main controller has failed in this instance.
For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing. I recommend both sites because ...
FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.
PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information. RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.
If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell. In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.
If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

No, it is not common to fail in that way. I suggest that you check the breakers to make sure that they weren't shut off while you were away. I hope that is all that is wrong. There is always the possibility that there was a power surge that damaged the machine, but I've never seen that happen to a device that was not on, and I would think that other electronic devices would also be damaged. I hope this helped. Dan
Are the symptoms exactly the same as last year? If so I would have expected some sort of guarantee/warantee on the replacement motor and you should invoke that!
Sorry not to be able to offer a cheaper way ;-0(
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!
The control board went bad. Your switch went bad or you blew the fuse. All are located behind the knobs. Just remove the knobs and undue the screws up top. Make sure to unplug the system before opening it up
I under stand you have this problem! I have a kelvinator K605 washing machine that has suddenly halved it's wash time! I can't find my user manual.
At the bottom of this page is a web site for Kelvinator manuals from fixya.com. But I have some most important advice for you to read first!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This machine is very and an energy gussler! My advice is not to put your good money into bad! It's not worth spending a dime to repair! The new machines cost so much less to operate and will pay for them selves in only a few years! And the new machines will not wear out you clothes so fast! Top load machines used to use 54 gallons a load. Todays top load Speed Queen washer uses only 34 gallons! cost only 549 and out lasts every machine on the market. It's tested at 8 loads a week for 25 years. has a 3 year warranty compared to the 1 year of all the rest and a TEN YEAR TRANSMISSION WARRANTY, compared to ONE YEAR of all the rest! Today you can get 10 to 15 years depending how much you spend on the washer!
The washers and dryers today use so much less water, electricity, and detergent that they pay for them selves after a only a few years. My advise is, do not put good money into a washer that is over 10 years old! It is less expensive to buy, run, and operate a new efficient machine! You will see you water and electric bill reduced!!!!!!!!! Speed Queen commercial grade top loader uses only 34 gallon of water compared to the others at 54 gallons! Their front load washer uses, (GET THIS) ONLY 13.9 GALLONS of water and washes in 35 minutes and the clothes are cleaner and last longer cause it uses water agitation instead of a vain to wear out your clothes! How about spinning at 1000 RPM and the clothes come out so dry they are only in the dryer half the time than all the other machines! Thus half the gas or electric bill!! All my employees have replaced their laundry pairs with Speed Queen! My Guys call it the, "No Brainer Machine!"
I hope you can utilize the good advice I so enjoy sharing with all the good people we talk to!
Washing machine stops at the spin cycle - light flashes. Have to drain water out manually. Happened last week and was then able to run an empty rinse cycle. Machine worked normally for another week. Same problem today but have had to drain water manually from the drum after trying an empty 90 wash and rinse cycle (both stopped on the Spin and flashed). Any ideas? Thanks. x
