Wow! finally the solution that works! Holding the '+' sign for 4 seconds. We had our vent replaced by kitchenaid once and were about to call again and complain since our new one did just the same thing without resolution using the 'H' button as indicated in the manual! Thanks for help it's so appreciated!

Reset Filter Alert
After 100 hours of use, “C” will appear in the range hood display.
This “C” indicates that the filter must be cleaned. “C” will appear
only when turning off the range hood fan.
Reset Alarm Display
1.
Turn off the range hood fan and light.
2. Press the “plus” (+) button for 4 seconds. The “C” will
disappear from the display, and the counter will reset to “0.”

Your supposed to hold the "H" button down for 4 seconds and the filter hours clock is supposed to reset itself to 0 and remove the "C" display. But, I have the same issue and holding the "H" button for 4 seconds doesn't take the "C" away. I'm going to place a call to Kitchenaid and see if they have any suggestions. We even tried resetting it by turning off the power, still shows a "C"! Disappointing!! Hope this helps you.

Check to see if your filter is plugged that will slow the air flow.

When fan is on A flashes on screen

This means the screens need cleaning. Clean them with mild soap and water and let them dry. Replace them. Then while the hood is off, hold the minus sign down. The A will come on and then go off.

Zephyr Milano hood fan and lights stop working. Power is on.

Hi ronio,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: After the power went out your Zephyr hood lights and fan don't work at all. There is a faint glow on the digital display but the fan and lights don't respond to pressing the control buttons.

First check the circuit breaker. If OK then check the transformer in the unit. It's next to the fan motor. If no power on the high side then you have a loose or broken connection. If you have no power on the low side the you have a bad transformer. If OK then you have a bad control board.

Display show "file"

The range is telling you to clean the filters. To clear the display, Press and hold the "-" and "+" buttons for 5 -10 seconds. This should clear the message. Hope this helps.

Speed control on fan

It means that the filters on the hood need to be cleaned. You simply pop them out and can wash them in the dishwasher. Once clean, dry and replaced, you hold down the fan speed button (the second button from the left or " - " minus for more than five seconds.) When you first hit the button the A will appear, hold the button when the letter disappears, the timer has been reset until time for the next cleaning. The microprocessor in the system will flash every 30 hours of operation.

BABT83.2AL Canopy Rangehood The fan/suction is not working. A slight straining noise is heard. The light is working as is the display panel.

These units have a history of fan failure due to inferior 220 volt Italian fan.

I have just had fan fail and retrofitted a ebmpapst blower fan model D2E146HT6702 which is readily available in Aus for around $120.

The fan speed control is by inverter variable output so you don't use all the speed select wires that this fan has. Connect the Red wire on the range hood to the Black on the motor (High speed winding) and the Black on the range hood to the Blue on the motor (Neutral) and the earth to the earth (Green).

Disconnect and toss the cap in the white enclosure under the PC board enclosure (the new fan has the cap on board). Don't know how easy to fit in the range hood as mine is in an acoustic fan housing in the roof (makes it wisper quiet when running)
