You need to have a technician come out and do a couple of things. First determine if the oriface on the burners is the correct size for the type of gas (Natural or Propane) then he should adjust the gas outlet pressure. Also is this a vented or vent free set up. Good luck and please give me a Fixya rating.

you can buy a kit at home depot, you just need to know the psi for the unit so you can get a kit with the proper regulator. Kit will be in the section with water heaters, or seasonal, with the fireplaces.

The reason this is happening is that the overload switch, which is part of the safety features has gone bad. That's why the burner will only light with the glass off. The orange color of the flame from the pilot flame is normal for propane.

Unfortunately, this is not a DIY fix. If you can find a qualified service technician, that's the best way to go. As, Heat-n-Glow fireplaces are a basic, builder box line. And as such, have some quirks that other, more expensive gas fireplaces don't have.

Hope this helps solve your problem.

OUR FIREPLACE WILL NOT IGNITE. THE PILOT IS LIT. WE HAVE HAD ALWAYS HAD TROUBLE IN THE PAST BUT IT WOULD EVENTUALLY LIGHT. NOW, AFTER MORE THAN A DOZEN TRIES, IT WILL NOT.

The safety feature for your fireplace is probably a millivolt pilot generator. It serves 2 functions. It holds open the pilot safety magnet AND operates the solenoid on the millivolt gas valve. The pilot generator is weak. It will hold open the safety but not work the operator selenoid on the gas valve. Replace it. And party on!

Pilot on logs won't stay lit

Hold pilot button longer. if this doesn't work your Thermopile has gone bad and will not generate enough Millivolts to keep gas valve pilot open. A new thermopile will generate 750 millivolts. It cost less than $20 dollars but is difficult to replace. You should call a certified technician. They will charge you about $100.00

We have propane fire place an recently when we use it it is getting a black suit all over the fire place. my step dad thinks it is not burning hot enough but we dont know what the problem is.

Thanks for your Question,
Black soot is the by product of incomplete combustion, with Propane you will get alot more soot than with Natural gas, you need to look at how the flame are hitting your log set, if you have alot of soot on them you will need to reposition them as to not let the flame impinge on them causing the sooting affect, you will also need to check the burner for any type of blockage on them, clear off any thing that is on them, also you will need to check your venting for any blockage, I would also recommened you use a product called (rutland white off) it is a fantastic cleaner for fireplace glass, please do not use windex or cleaners of that type as they will cause a rainbow affect on the glass after heating to a certian point, hope this was helpful to ya, please rate this and let us know how we did, thanks again,

Rubber caulking is not good. You need high temperature furnace cement for this job. This is availible from Home Depot or a hardware store. Remove as much of the rubber caulking as you can first.
