Indesit WD12 washer dryer with a leaking door seal
Looks like I need to replace the door seal on my Indesit WD12 washer dryer which has a small tear in it - Can anyone offer any advice on how to remove the existing seal and re-fit a new one - Are any specialist tools needed?

This is no easy job and you will need a copy of the work-shop manual; sometimes they can be downloaded of the internet. There are no real specialist tools, but im telling you now there will be a lot of very red knuckles .good luck.adrian

Check out the front seal carefully for a replacement. Due to the flexibility of the seal, it is not to easy to spot a tear mark, Under pressure of an operation load, a small tear will allow water leaking through, so there is a leak. It is very common that a hard sharp object left inside clothing and during washing cycle, it makes its way to the seal and cause a damage. Hope this can help.
firstly the rubber seal needs to come out, then i usually use an old socket and long extension bar and knock them out with a large hammer. fitting is the opposite of removal. a word of caution though if the centre of the bearing is hit it can damage them. you may be best searching the site for an engineer in your area as it could turn costly if you get it wrong.
hope this helps

When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:
Timer- If your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.
Water supply problem- If water doesn't enter the machine when you start the process- check water entrance pipe, myaybe it was bend (if you have there a tap - see it is open).
Check that water entrance valve works (it is an electromagnet valve, loocated at the pipe's enterance to the machine).
If it doesn't work, test that it get power. In case it doesn't get power, it seems that the problem is with the timer unit. In case it get power and dosen't work - You can easyly open the valve and clean it (from scale or other dirt). Be aware you should disconnect the power cable from machine before doing it !!!!!
Check as well for valve's coil resistance. In case you have no resistance measurement - you should replace for a new valve.
