Can't get the front face off

After removing the screws holding the front panel in place, you may also see a series of clips that hold the panel. These clips will also need to be removed to remove the front panel. Another issue may be the drum rests on the lip of the dryer door. You may need to pull up on the drum while pulling on the front panel. Keep in mind that prior to removing the front panel, the top panel also should be removed. Also, remember to remove screws holding the lint trap in place. Depending on the dryer, this can be located on top of the dryer or just inside the dryer door.

How do I take off the back to get to elements and fuse on my kenmore elite dryer, I took screws off but the top appears to be welded.

Getting to the heating circuits is not the same on every model of dryer. Some dryers have heating circuits in the REAR of the dryer, some have the heating circuits located inside the cabinet UNDER the drum and others have heating circuits BEHIND the drum.

If your dryer has the lint screen on the TOP of the unit, you will need to remove the BACK panel of the dryer to expose the heating circuits.

If the dryer has the lint screen in the DOOR, you will need to remove the lower toe panel under the door by using a putty knife to release the retaining clips. They will be located along the seam in the front about 2 inches in from each side. If this is a Kenmore Elite or Whirlpool Duet, the lower toe panel comes off by removing the screws under the bottom edge of the panel.

If you do not have a toe panel, you will need to lift the dryer top and remove the entire FRONT panel to access the internal components.

If you have further questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER so I can determine how your dryer is constructed.

Makes a strange noise, as if something is rubbing. The dryer works, I took off the bottom front panel, and evrything seems fine, ie the belt looked fine, no debris found.

Most noise complaints from this style dryer comes from the idler pulley and two drum support wheels. The idler pulley just clips into the bottom of the dryer and keeps tension on the drum belt. The drum rollers have clips that must be removed from the shafts before trying to replace them. If one wheel is worn out, replace them both = less problems later on. See "how to take apart" to access the rollers, once the belt is disconnected from the idler pulley and motor pulley, lift out the drum. The roller on the left has a bracket and 2 clips to remove before the roller can be replaced. The right roller has just 1 clip that must be removed to replace the roller. Use a cloth or fine sand cloth to clean up the shafts, use a light oil before installing the new rollers. DO NOT use a heavy grease as this will attract dust and become very dirty and gum up the rollers. Check the belt will you are there and clean out any dust from motor and from the drum base. See how to take apart information. Anew picture of the roller, shaft and clips... you can get the required board and components at ----- -------- or from ------ ----
if you are not familiar with doing this you can get it done by local appliance repair technician familiar with this model.
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

When I took the back off my Asko to clean it out I had to lay it on its face to get the drum to line up again with the back - in the doing this a wire pulled off its setting. Did not figure this out until I took the top off the dryer and found the loose wire. I have no idea if this is your problem but it was very frustrating. There is also a black reset button on the back of the dryer that you might try.

Dryer drum spins but no heat

These units have a limit switch is located near the burner compartment. It is about the size of a dime or penny with 2 wires going to it. In between the wires, there is a small button that you can depress firmly. This should reset the limit. If it trips again, you will need to replace the limit switch. Hope this helps.

Clothes get caught between drum at front of dryer

the drum has either worn out its felt(front), a fabric bearing, or the roller(rear) bearings, or both, and dropped enough to make a gap. new rollers are3 about $15 /pair, felts between $13 & $90 depending on model.
Generic replacement is simple, and really while you got it apart, do both, the strain of twisting off axis will make the remaining good end fail shortly
The generic steps may not be correct for the actual dryer model.

Felt seal
for most dryers,
Go buy HiTemperature silicone adhesive (tube)
tools required couple pairs locking pliers/visegrips screwdrivers

Unplug dryer
remove the front cover, either
  • couple screws at the bottom and spring clips to pop off with a screw driver OR
  • couple of spring clips to hold the top lid on, then screws top and bottom of both sides

examine the case to find the exact mounting
unclip cables from door switch
set front panel aside
unhook drive belt from tensioner pulley
pull drum forward and out

remove old felt
scrape off old adhesive
put adhesive per instructions (some 2 surfaces some 1) on drum/felt
clip felt in place on drum with visegrip at 1 point
stretch felt around drum, gluing and clipping in place with vicegrips as you go
allow glue to set

reassemble in reverse order

Roller bearings
for most dryers,
tools required needle pliers/visegrips screwdrivers

Unplug dryer
remove the front cover, either

  • couple screws at the bottom and spring clips to pop off with a screw driver OR
  • couple of spring clips to hold the top lid on, then screws top and bottom of both sides

examine the case to find the exact mounting
unclip cables from door switch
set front panel aside
unhook drive belt from tensioner pulley
pull drum forward and out

remove old rollers:
  • pry triangular circlip from axle post
  • discard circlip
  • remove and discard roller
  • install new roller
  • install new circlip
    ALWAYS replace rollers in pairs

    reassemble in reverse order
wow took longer to type than it actually takes to do it
