HTC G1 - Can't transfer from computer to micro SDHC card
Could not transfer anything to the micro SD card, 1GB, that came with my G1. I keep getting " I/O device error ". Made a back up folder on my pc and tried to format the card. My computer says it cannot complete the formatting. I search a few forums and came to the conclusion that it may be a bad card. So I bought the SanDisk 8GB, SDHC. The phone reads it no problem. I mounted it to my pc no problem. But when I try to copy my back up files to it or even create a new file folder guess what....same problem. Cannot create or replace, " I/O device error ". Don't know what to do.....please help!
Re: HTC G1 - Can't transfer from computer to micro SDHC...
Just copy all the data from the microsd to a folder on the computer then format the microsd using the computer and put everything back on the microsd when done.. i found this necessary when attempting to put snes roms on the microsd to be run with snesoid after the most recent g1 update.

The HTC Dream (G1) does have a memory card slot for micro SD cards.
Hold the phone upright in your hand and look for the green call button. Once you see the call button look directly on the side of the phone you should see a small flap. Open the keyboard and you will see a little knotch pull this towards you and volia! That's where the SD card is!
Umm..... did u try formating the card? before you do that backk all info on computer via usb cable. if the G1 says mount to usb go ahead and mount it. in your case it might not work. but try it anyway. if no good goto settings on the G1 then goto SD and internal memory and tap eject SD card then pull it out then push it back into the slot tell me if it works on the PC now.
plug your G1 to your PC via a USB cable that came with it .., once you plug it in you'll get a notification entitled USB connected .. select it and then choose mount ... once thats done open your My computer icon , you'll see an exrta drive that wasn't there be4 somethig like K or M .. open that and you'll see all the content of your SD card .. copy and past everything to a folder anywhere in your computer ... then all you gotta do is replace the SD card , repeat the same proccess but then time copy everything back to your new SD card .
I had a similar problem, I fixed mine by formatting the SD Card in my computer, installing it into my G1, then restarting. You miss out on whatever was on the SD Card from Google, but at least you get to use the camera.
Hope this helps,
P.S. I've called tech support to see if I can re-download whatever was on my SD Card to begin with, and as of yet there is nowhere they could direct me to, to download whichever files were stored there.
1.) Mount your camera 2.) Open your dcim folder in your camera 3.) In whatever file browser you're using (Explorer, Finder, Nautilus, etc) enable show hidden files. 4.) Remove .thumbnails folder 5.) Be sure to empty trash
