I have a Solo Radar Detector and all of a sudden when you insert the batteries and turn it on, it goes through the motions of turning on, then when done, the solid red light just blinks. I don't have a working cord, so haven't tried that, but have tried many different batteries. It first started this after I one time pulled the batteries out while it was no instead of using the power button.

Well first off in doing so removing the batterys before you powered it off its stuck in some kind of error mode. Try putting the batteries in, holding the power button down for a few seconds and see if the light stops blinking.
Second Idea if you have a local radio shack they have replacment power cords for radar detectors there about 10 dollars. I had to go buy one for mine. After powering it up with that Id say it should work fine.

I have a 2008 bwm 3 series...When you try to start the car it just clicks & the instrument panel goes crazy!!

This could be a collapsed battery or it could be a crashed vehicle computer. Start by changing the battery. It is much cheaper than the computer.

Will not power on-- batteries are new- if pwr

Hi:
I was using one of these for the last 8 months, and mine did the same thing, I would push power and the unit will just blink the lights then shut off, But if I hold the power button the light will stay on until the button was released, so I contacted Solo Tech support and they told me the system control board was bad, and in order to get a new board I had to be an authorized servicer for then, I found the board online and the price for the board exceded the price I paid for it. So i deemed it necessary to just purchase a new Scanner....

Remote does not connect with unit built into car. does not go on

First, the K40 Calibre isn't a terribly good radar/laser defense system no matter what K40 claims. I would rate its radar detection capabilities as fair, and its laser jamming capabilities as poor. But on to your problem. Call K40 and see if they can talk you through any specific procedures which they have. It appears that your Bluetooth remote and the RD are not properly synced. Its best if K40 talks you through the resolution.

Escort doesn't work

There is no place where you can send it in for any type of service. Not only that, your Solo's performance is horribly outdated compared to any current Bel or Escort radar detector model. Even Whistler offers high end models which significantly outperform your old Solo. It is time to upgrade, plain and simple.

Questions

Ku is a band of radar used in some places by law enforcement. It is not used everywhere and can be a pain if it goes off for no reason. I recommend consulting your manual and turning the Ku band off if it is not used in the area in which you live. This will enable your detector to become more reliable for when you are being "zapped" by law enforcement

Pop is a way of using radar where the officer turns his radar on and off quickly. As a car approaches, they will turn the radar on long enough to get a speed reading, then immediately turn it back off to avoid detection by civilian radar devices. Some of the newer models of radar detectors have a feature which detects pop radar.

Every electronic device emits a frequency. Vg2 is what law enforcement use in states where radar detectors are illegal to identify whether a car is using a radar detector. The newer version of vg2 is called spectre and accomplishes the same thing. Some radar detectors can pick up on vg2 and spectre so the owner can turn the detector off before they are detected by law enforcement.

Help!

If you live near a cell-phone tower, your radar detector can pick up on the waves coming from it. If you like in an area where radar detectors are legal and Ku band is not used, I recommend turning off the vg2, spectre and Ku bands on your detector. This will not only cut down on some of the "noise" but also make your radar detector more reliable for when you are actually "zapped" by law enforcement.
