Question about SimpleTech (STT440HD/40) 40 GB Hard Drive
Hello! My SimpleTech 40gb hard drive is not recognized on my Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop and I don't know what to do. I put the OS CD in the laptop and tried to reboot many times but it is not recognizing the OS or the harddrive. My brother thinks that we should just focus on recovering the files on my hard drive by buying the part we need online, but I want to make sure we try everything before we spend money on parts that may not help recover the system anyhow. The computer was working just fine before this happened so I'm hoping I can fix it!
Anyhow, I would greatly appreciate any tech support. Thank you!
Do you have the dell diags cd that came with the computer. If you do ,boot to the cd and run a diag.Once in the menue do a quick test, check the device you want to check and wait for the result. You may want to test all devices since you want to make sure the computer is working and you might have only a failed hard drive.
