Laptop turns off

My laptop shuts down when I play my simulated game. It does not do it every time, but it is becoming more frequent. It will completely shut down and I can not turn it back on for at leat 15 minutes. Then I am able to turn it back on. By the way the game that I play is "The Sims2".

Sounds like a heat issue. All laptops have a way of dispelling heat from the processor. First, see if you're using it in an environment where these ports are being covered up. Second, if your laptop has cooling fans, see if theyre working (look on the bottom or sides depending on the model). Check for dust buildup on or around the heat vents or fans. If dusty, invest in a can of compressed air, and blow the dust out of the vents and/or fans. Finally, many computer stores carry cooling lappads. You can try one of those and see if your issue resolves.

My computer just shuts down on its own after about 20-30 minutes of playing certain games. this hasnt happened in the past and is frequently getting worse and worse

Make sure your hardware isnt getting too hot.
I've your CPU reaches 90 degrees, its gonna shutdown your computer, in order to protect itself from dying.

Try reading your hardware degrees using SpeedFan.

Your laptop is overheating, and it is shutting down to prevent it from more damage. I'm sure it is the CPU that is overheating as you mention burning, or using power hungry application will make the cpu to work harder, and increase in temp. There is a tjmax setting on the cpu that limits at a temperature when reach and shut down to prevent it from overheating. You may need to do some cleaning by blowing off the dust on the exhaust port, or even taking your computer apart and reapply your cpu/heatisink with new termal paste. Before this, check if your fan is working, and that your laptop is getting proper airflow from the bottom, you might need to get a usb cooling fan to help cool it down better in the future. I recommend not using this laptop much or long anymore as it will eventually become overheated and damaged.

Random shutdown problem

Hey, will be cpu related ie overheating, when your playing games causes the cpu temperature to increase once it hits around 60c it will restart to save damage to your laptop, i would suggest making sure the fan is working if not have it replaced, but depending on ya knowledge i would suggest taking it to a shop to repaste cpu and clean out heatsink etc.

When playing certain "Time Management" games my laptop suddenly shuts down. On occasion when I turn it back on it goes through 'repair' and then 'system restore' and still gets hot and shuts down.

Sounds to me like you have a cooling fan issue. Sometimes blowing it out will fix it. Other times it will need to be taken apart and cleaned and new thermal compound put on the cpu

Sounds like you have a hardware fan & vent, the CPU shuts down when it gets too hot.
Check the fan, it should spin freely, clean the dust off the fan and heatsink assembly. Replace the fan if necessary.
When you use the laptop, make sure none of the vents are covered.
