Is you alarm active when you open the hood or has it been deactivated before you open the hood? If it is deactivated does it still go off?

Yea this will be because most alarm systems are fitted to the bonnet, or got a shock sensor in it.

This is becuase it stops people from openings the bonnet and removings the alarm system from the battery then stealing your car.

So its nothing to worry about really

Only use these remotes to lock my car. Alarm keeps going off when no one is around. Any idea why?

alarms normally activate when they are trigged

do you have a bonnet door or boot switches connected to the alarm system

you have to eliminate each switch

open one door at a time and hold down the switch

lock the car with the remote if it gos off its not that door

move on to the next door and repeat the process

if it does the same thing with all the doors there working properly

go to the boot or trunk and hold down the switch if it gos off thats good

go to the bonnet or hood and hold down the switch if it gos off you thats good have eliminated all switches

if at any time any one of them dosent go off you have found the problem

try that first

The alarm siren on my 1996 opel astra estate does not work . if the alarm is triggerd the hazards do flash so i beleive that the alarm is working . i tried to locate the siren but could not find it . any...

Normally the siren is located under the bonnet bolted to the fire wall or on the side of the engine on the wheel arch. I have only ever seen a siren under bonnet in a place that is not reachable from underneath the vehicle in order to prevent a would be thief from cutting the wires of the siren

I have a viper 5901 installed on my 2008 Impala SS and every now and then the alarm goes off saying the doors are open but they are closed. why would this happen

This is happening because they used the cars domelight to set the alarm off when the doors are opened. When the cars computer goes into battery save mode and shuts down certain parts of the car, the domelight is one of them and a slight ground or 12 volt positive is backfed to the alarm and sets it off. This usually happens after 30 minutes. they should take the alarms door trigger and actually go to the cars door latch wires. The colors are:
gray/black - driver door tan/white - pass door lt. blue/black - back driver door lt. green/black - passenger back door

BMW 330i 2003 model... Recently, the alarm has been going off sporadically... doesn't always happen and doesn't happen at night.... Any ideas? Alternately, how can I disarm the system until I get it fixed

I would recommend checking the hood switch. Raise the hood and lock on the left or right strut tower area. You should see a small switch with a rod that sticks up.try disconnecting the switch and see if the problem goes away.If not you have an interior sensor on the headliner under a trim cover. The cover is clipped on.pull the cover down and try disconnecting the sensor to see if it fixes it.

My 1998 E36 316i alarm goes off intermittently.How do I fix/reset

this is not an uncommon problem on this modeland it can be really irritating, one usual cause is the micro switch under the bonnet, try crossing it out and see if that helps if not it may be the tilt sensor in the control unit and i am afraid that you need specialist equipment to diagnose this so a visit to an auto electrician will be neccessary

Alarm will not make a sound when you push the remote but it will lock and unlock car

This could happen if the wire connecting the alarm inside your vehicle's bonnet has got disconnected.

Check for a black cone like structure which helps producing the sound.

I have a honda accord 2000 and the alarm goes off alone

check the bonnet switch after awhile these get corroded and cause false alarms, just disconnact it for a week if your not sure, also check the alarm hasn;t suffered water damage and if the car has a motion .ultrasonics sensors the may be to sensitive arm the car wait 5 seconds and then kick a tyre it should;nt go of unless kicked quite hard.
