Re: hp F4200 deskjet problem
Please follow the best option that are given :
1) Check all the cable.
2) Check you cartridge position and install it correctly.
3) Remove the old copy of your driver and try to download latest driver from http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-002&h_lang=en&h_cc=us&h_product=14438&h_client=S-A-R163-1&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&cc=usand install it.
4) If cartridge condition or its refill time is over then try to use new cartridge.

Assuming that you want a "test page", on Windows 7 go to Printers and Devices and right click on the printer. On the pop up select printer properties. On the General tab of XXXX Properties you will see at the bottom right "Print a test page" select it and your printer should receive a test page to print.
You can use any document you have to test the printer, though. Just type something into notepad and select print.
A lot of HP Deskjet F4200 Series All-in-One printer users complain about the installation problem experienced with this product, especially those using the Windows XP operating system. The driver installs perfectly; it performs the alignment and prints the test page. But as soon as you print a document, photo, or anything from the computer, the printer fails and says "The program has encountered a problem and needs to close". When you go to the printer properties, you'll get a message: Function address 0x500a0490 caused a protection fault. (Exception code 0xc0000005) Some or all property page(s) may not be displayed.
The problem can be resolved by completely uninstalling the driver and installing it again. When the installation is complete, click the START button on the lower left corner of your screen then on the right pane, click 'Printers and Faxes'.
Under the printer tasks, click 'Add a printer' then click Next on the Add Printer Wizard dialog box. Select 'Local printer attached to this computer' and uncheck 'Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer' then click Next. Click 'Use the following port' and select LPT1: (Recommended printer port) then click Next.
Select HP under the Manufacturer list and under the Printer list, select hp deskjet 990c then click Next. Select 'Keep existing driver (recommended)'; click Next, name your printer, select Yes to set your printer as the default printer then click Next. Select Yes to print a test page, click Next then Finish to complete the setup. Click OK when a dialog box appears.
Go back to the 'Printer and Faxes' folder and right-click on the name of your printer. Select Properties and click Ports/Connections then check 'USB...Virtual printer for.....hp deskjet 990c'. Click Apply then OK and you should now be able to use your HP Deskjet F4200 Series All-in-One printer.
If you are using text editor like notepad, wordpad, ms-word, etc.. then just increase the font size. You can do the same with the photo editor like photoshop, ulead, etc and graphics editor like.. corel draw..
But if you are trying to print pre-formated documents like pdf file, it's not possible, even if you zoom it from the print settings, some text will be missing and your prints will useless.
I hope this helps.
It really sounds like you might have bad ink cartridges, if you use re-filled cartridges they often have problems like you are describing. The ink will get clogged and not make it to the spray nozzel so the printer thinks its printing, but the ink isnt being sprayed onto the page.
You will kick yourself !
It drove me crazy for 3 days and I had tried everything ! reloading the software, full system restore and pulled what little hair I have OUT !
I had exactly the same problems my printer which is an HP Photosmart 2610 all in one, would print photos and everything else EXCEPT anything from wordpad, notepad or similar ! the pages were coming out blank !
Wait for it !
The solution is so so simple !
As wordpad docs are only usually in BLACK.I decided to change the colour to blue and lo and behold it worked !
Simply my black cartridge was empty ! upon refilling Absolutely everything printed fine !
Sometimes the most simple solution we cannot see !
I hope this has been helpfull to you..............
Did you run test page AFTER new cartridges installation? Please print text from different programs: Noterpad, Wordpad, Office word, excell, Browser etc.. If you see text in some other program check settings in "text not printing" program : MSWord has a setting in Options blocking texts. If you never see a text, check "Printer Preferences.." different from "Printer Properties.." Let we know if fixed by scoring this solution or tell us results for any further support.
HI!. Most printers have a self test facility to do a test page without being connected to any PC. If you can find that out from the HP site, that's a first step. Also, check printers in Windows Control Panel to make sure it is the "Default" printer. Try to send a test page. e.g. right click on the icon for the printer, select 'properties' & look for "Print test page". If all these work then next you would open Windows notepad and just type in a couple of rows of text, then print. If that works, then you try your original application program to prove that it is the cause (somehow). Check all physical connections & re-load the s/w driver. Also, you could take your printer to a friends place that has the same Windows OS and see if it installs OK. Try & test print etc. Hope this helps you to narrow down the problem.
I have a HP Deskjet 1300n printer. I can print my email, pictures and
items off the internet, but cannot print any word documents or notepad
documents. When I print an excel document, I get an incomplete page-the
grid lines will print, and text garbage from a adobe program but not all the text. When I do a test print
page, I get an incomplete text page, but do not know how to solve this.
I have removed and reloaded the printer software-no improvement. There
are no new drivers to be installed.
Have you tried a new cartridge yet? I know it doesn't make sense at first but I suspect the cartridge has a problem and your test print isn't exercising the printer like the Word doc is.
If the new cartridge works than the problem is probably poor quality ink, the hole you used to refill isn't sealed correctly or the cartridge or jets were damaged in some way.
