You will most probably need a ethernet "cross over" cable. you can get these from most computer shops.

Xbox connected through network cable to pc ! what do i need to perform on pc through my wireless usb port connected to go online

If you are running Windows Vista on your PC here is how you can route your XboX360 through your PC/Laptop in order to get on Xbox Live Wirelessly:

1. Set up a Static IP address in Vista. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network & Sharing Center -> Manage Network Connections

2. Right-click on Local Area Connection and go to Properties

3. Double-click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4)

4. Set the option to "Use the following IP address"

IP Address: 192.168.100.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: blank

5. Just to be safe, also set the options to "Use the following DNS Server Address"

Preferred: 208.67.222.222
Alternate: 208.67.220.220

(You may use your ISPs DNS entries also, these are just the OpenDNS ones that should work for everyone)

6. Under the "advanced" tab, you need to check "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection."

7. Right-click on your wireless connection, go to properties, click the "advanced" tab and check the same box to allow other users to share the connection.

8. On your Xbox360 go to the network configuration menu and enter the following settings:

IP address: 192.168.100.5
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.100.1

DNS1: 208.67.222.222
DNS2: 208.67.220.220

Now you should be able to get on the internet with your Xbox as it will be using your PC/Laptop's wireless connection.

My PS3 is telling me that it "succeeded" in obtaining my IP adress,but now its telling me that an error occured during communication with the server

To me it sounds like you are hooking your PS3 through a computer to the internet. If so there is an easy fix for your problem. On your computer open Control Panel, and then open Network Connections. Right-Click on your internet connection and select properties, then on the top tab select Advance. This will open up your network sharing. In the box that says (Internet Connection Sharing), check the box that says (Allow other network users to connect through this computer's connection) click OK. Once you do this it will promt you with a message that some modifications made will not take place till the connection is reset. Then just log off the internet and re-log back on. Then proceed to start your PS3 and redo the internet connection settings on the PS3.

Ps3 sharing an ip address

it's something with your router. try assinging static ip addresses. that'll fix it. or contact your router manufactere and ask about DHCP and figure out that way why your router is assigning everthing the same ip address

Xbox live is not working

How are you connecting Your Xbox console upto your Internet ? if your Connecting Via WiFi, Make sure you have the Xbox compatible WiFi adaptor, if you are connecting Via a Local Area network, Ensure that your Console is hooked up Directly to Your Router, and if your connecting Via a Shared internet connection thru a PC, Ensure it is Hooked up correctly and also that your computer is set up to allow sharing the internet connection, That sometimes makes Xbox live faulty.

Also another problem for IP addresses not working is Due to your Internet service provider, Some broadband companies constantly renew IP addresses changing them every so often which the Xbox doesnt like. I would suggest contacting your Service provider and seeing if they have any Technical Support !

Cant get internet connection on my ps

first check wether you received a valid ip address for your local network. usually, this should be something like 192.168.x.y. if so, then you might indeed face a dns issue. dns is used to resolve web site names to ip address. usually, your ip service provider will broadcast the external dns servers for your router to recognize.

try to connect with a computer first. if it works, check the ip settings. if your computer also cannot connect without explicit dns server settings you can do one of the following:
- explicit dns server address in ps3. go to "advanced internet connection settings", and then to "dns settings" and set the dns server address
- purchase a 30$ network router and hook it between your internet and the ps3. in the router settings, set the dns server address to be broadcasted to the clients. you can use 168.126.63.1 and 2 which are dns servers in korea (i live in korea), but you might want to find the server near to your location or promoted by your isp

Ps3 wireless internet connection. ip address timed out?????

gomez111, is this your connection?

if so then you will have to contact Optus because they will have to reconfigure your account to allow the firewall ports of your connection to let the PS3 pass.

good luck

My wii wont connect to the internet it found the box and i put the password in but it will not connect it also wont pass the conection test

1. Make sure you're connected to the internet via something other than the AirPort card (i.e. Ethernet). Also, make sure AirPort is on.

2. Turn on Internet Sharing:
* Go to System Preferences, click on the Sharing icon, then click on the Internet tab.
* Change the Share your connection from: pop-up to 'Built-in Ethernet.'
* Under the To computers using section, check the AirPort box.
* Click Airport options...
* Enter an easy name such as wii. Leave all the security options blank -- implementing security is an exercise left to the reader -- then click OK.
* Click Start in the Internet Sharing panel.

3. Gather Information:
* Open Terminal.app and type ifconfig en1. In the output...
* Look for: inet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx netmask ...
* Take note the IP Address associated with the first inet, negating values after the # (mine was 10.0.2.1; yours may be different).
* Type dig. Near the bottom of this output will be SERVER: followed by an IP address. This will be the DNS server you will use for your wii.

4. Configure the wii:
* Select a connection to edit.
* Choose Manual Setup.
* Enter the following parameters:
* SSID: wii (or whatever you chose in step one)
* Auto-obtain IP Address: No
* IP Address: Take the first IP Address you obtained earlier, and make the last digit different. i.e., mine could be 10.0.2.4 (10.0.2.1 was original)
* Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
* Default router: The original IP Address, unchanged. (10.0.2.1)
* Auto-obtain DNS: No
* Primary DNS: your DNS SERVER from the dig output.
* Secondary DNS: leave as 000.000.000.000
* Test your connection at the top of the screen. hope it works

THINGS TO TRY loadTOCNode(1, 'whattotry'); Direct connection with a modem only loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); 1. If you are connecting to Xbox Live by using a modem that is connected directly into your broadband socket, your IP address settings are obtained from your ISP. Set your IP address in Network Settings to Automatic. 2. If you use a static IP address that you obtained from your ISP, you must manually enter this address in the Dashboard. Contact your ISP for their static IP address if you do not know it. If the IP is not static, continue with the rest of the troubleshooting. 3. Power cycle the modem. 4. If your ISP requires PPPoE settings, verify that you have entered them correctly. 5. If your ISP does not use PPPoE authentication, do not use these fields in the Dashboard. Shared connection with a modem and a router loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); 1. Power cycle both the modem and the router. 2. Try connecting the Xbox 360 console to Xbox Live by using the modem only. This eliminates any configuration problems on the router. • If this setup works without the router, there is a configuration issue with the router. See the router's documentation or contact the technical support group. 3. Verify that your router's DHCP service has been enabled. See the router's documentation or contact the technical support group. 4. The IP address that you entered in the Network Settings area of the Xbox Dashboard may be incorrect. Set your IP settings to Automatic. 5. If your ISP requires PPPoE settings, try to connect with only the modem after you enter the PPPoE settings in Network Settings. • If you can connect, see your router documentation to configure the PPPoE settings correctly on the router. 6. If you are receiving an IP conflict error in the More Info section, turn off all the devices on the network. Try to connect with only the modem and Xbox 360 console connected. • If this works, there is a configuration issue on the routers DHCP server. See the router's documentation or contact the technical support group. Shared connection with a gateway device (combined modem and router) loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); 1. Make sure that the device is turned on. 2. Verify that there is activity with the blinking lights sequence WAN, ADSL, and Internet connected power. Note These names will vary from model to model. 3. Power cycle the gateway device. 4. The IP address that you entered in to the Network Settings area of the Xbox Dashboard may be incorrect. Set your IP settings to Automatic. 5. If you are receiving an IP conflict error in the More Info section, turn off all the other devices on the network. Try to connect with only the Xbox 360 console on the network. • If this test works, there is a configuration issue on the gateway DHCP server. See the router's documentation or contact the technical support group. Shared connection with Microsoft Windows Internet Connection Sharing loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); 1. Verify that you can browse the Internet. If you cannot browse the Internet, Internet Connection Sharing is not configured correctly. 2. Power cycle the modem. If the modem does not have an on and off switch, unplug the modem from the power outlet. You cannot follow this step if you are using a USB modem. Instead, go to the next step. You must follow this step if you are switching the modem between the Xbox 360 console and a computer. 3. On the computer, click Start, click Run, type ncpa.cpl, and then click OK. 4. On the View menu, click Tiles. 5. If the connection is listed as Firewalled, the firewall may have to be configured. See your firewall documentation. 6. Enter manual settings in the Dashboard for IP address, subnet mask, DNS address and gateway: • IP Address : 192.168.0.2 • Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0 • Default Gateway : 192.168.0.1 • DNS server (Primary): 192.168.0.1 • DNS server (Secondary): 192.168.0.1If none of this works you might be banned. If you modded your xbox360 or for downloading game saves from the internet to boost you gamer score. You might be banned!
