Check your rear exhaust vent for blockage.
Your dryer has 2 heating elements.
If it gets warm at all at least one element is broken.
The operating thermostat could also be bad.
Burned/broken wire at heater terminal.
Unplug the dryer.
Remove the front panel, then the belt and drum and inspect the heater and thermostats.

Takes approx three 60 minute cycles to dry a medium size load. Vent pipe and filter is clean.

The house exhaust vent is plugged and needs to be cleaned out. To test, remove vent from dryer and run a load. If dryer works normally, it is your house exhaust vent that is plugged.

What is the correct temp at dryer exhaust when dryer is on ''high'' I have a electric bill that has doubled and I am researching each appliance in my home.

The high thermostat usually cycles around 145°F (on average), but it is the time it takes to dry a load that really matters. Nothing should take more than an hour. Usually around 40 minutes average.

Dryer not drying in one cycle. takes multiple cycles do dry one medium size load. the machine is less than a year old and we clean the filter after every load. checked the vent hose and its clear with no...

HI, Check the following to address this issue further.

Note: Normal drying time for a dryer is about 45 minutes (some may take up to an hour).

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat. These thermostats are located in the dryer vent duct and sometimes mounted on the blower assembly as well.

My Maytag gas dryer is not heating correctly. It gets warm, but takes several cycles to dry even small loads.

If you have'nt done it yet, my first suggestion would be to have the vent on the dryer (inside the dryer all the way to the fan chamber) and the dryer vent pipe to the outside thoroughly cleaned.
That is leading cause for dryers not drying completely.
Also, has the dryer always been a bit slow to dry cloths? If so, try leaving a window open the next time and see if it makes a difference. Some houses are sealed so tight, the dryer can't get enough air. A typical dryer will use up to 200 cu/ft of air per minute when drying. If there is not sufficient air, the cloths take longer to dry.
Good luck, let me know.
Regards,

My hotpoint vtd00 dryer seems to have stopped drying

Have you cleaned the exhaust ducting? The duct that runs from inside to outside. Try that first. Sounds like your exhaust line is blocked. Also with the filter out get a flash light and look down the venting if alot of lint vaccum out. NOTE: Unplug the unit, wheather gas or electric.....and if it is a gas shut off the gas to the dryer before moving just in case something gets loose while moving. Hope this helps.
