Disc tray wont open on xbox 360 hd dvd player

Ok 90% of the time your console gives you the open tray icon when it tries spinning clean disks is because the laser has gotten to weak to read them. Your options are buy a new dvd drive or pot tweaking the laser which is relatively easy if you are not afraid to go hands on with electronics.

honestly if you do not know much about electronics I would recommend just buying a new xbox dvd drive for like 20 bux off of ebay. But you will still have to open the xbox to figure out what drive you have and to actually swap it

try to clean your laser eye with a dvd cleaner disc. If that doesnt work, you have a bad disc drive.

HI, the DVD-ROM drive is malfunctioning. this will usually start with a failed optical lens assembly issue but, this is a bit different. The actual spin motor has failed first in this case. due to this damage, you will need to replace the DVD-Rom drive asap. this will fix this issue.

This is a common fault on SAMSUNG dvd drives in the xbox and xbox 360. you need to strip down the machine and replace the belt which is connected to a motor and the drive wheels. this happens when the belt has worn to a point its stretched too far and slips when the drive is trying to open.

You have a dirty or faulty laser. You can try a DVD player cleaning kit. If that doesn't work then you need to have the laser replaced. Thanks!

All CD Players and DVD players work basically the same. way.

When you close the tray a tiny micro-switch makes contact telling the player it is ready to read a disc.

Your switch has either failed or is out of alignment.

The unit has to be taken apart. The switch needs to be adjusted or replaced. The switch is a 69¢ part.

Check the region code of the disc against your consoles region code, if they don't match it won't it.

Also have you installed the updates for the HD Player, if not either download them via Xbox live or download them from here and copy to disc:
