Sony Digital TV screen colour problems

I purchased this TV in Asia about 8 years ago and the screen last night developed pink shades down both sides of the screen, giving some people green faces. Turned on this morning and the pink shades are still there. I thought it could be related to my digital cable signal or is this a sign that my tube is dying ? Tks

Green or pink colour invading the screen from the sides of tube

I believe that your problem may be caused by a magnet, yes although harmless at most times it will mess up the image on your screen. Their may be something emitting magnetic waves to close to your tv.

Sony wega 28 inch colours wrong, circle on screen

It sounds that there is some magnet near by TV that is affecting picture tube. Please remove any extra speaker or any thing that has strong magnet inside, unplug TV for 20-30 minutes, replug back in, turn it ON, hope that will solve your TV problem.

Toshiba TV colours wrong pink sky, blue clouds and green people??

Inside your TV there is like a loop of insulated wirings the loop around the screen. This is to demagnetized the tube. There is a varistor which looks like a thick coin with two leads on it, or sometimes it looks like a flat ceramic capacitor that control this loop of wire. When you first turn on your TV current goes through the loop of wires to demagnetize the TV then the varistor shuts off. Sometimes this varistor fails, causing smeard colors. You can also demagnetize the screen without opening the TV. Using a hand held demagnetizer. It can be purchased at some electronic parts store.

I'm having the same problem, red picture. Did you find a repair person and if so what was the problem and cost to fix it? My television is only 4 years old so I'd prefer to fix it if it's cost effective.

Colour stain

Yes it is A degause fault caused by either something magnetic being close to tv screen EG hifi speakers.
Or faulty degause thermistor, Or degause thermistor is not making good contact with pcb & only requires resoldering to pcb.
Allso try turning tv completely off at the mains switch leave a few hours then switch back on.
If you decide to take to A repair shop this repair is not expensive.

Jumping screen

If you have dropped the TV or it has been bumped significantly you may damaged part of the tv tube section where the electrons are beamed. Sounds like a damaged tube to me. If this occurs when you play a videocassette, you need to adjust the tracking of your videocassette player and the screen jumps will go away. I don't have that problem now, but on the bottom portion of the screen there is slight curvature distortion. In the late 1960's Sony TV's made the industry stand on its ear and could stop a shopper for clear across the showroom to take notice. Keep in mind our televisions are almost 20 years. It is "unheard" of for any tvs to last that long. Mine has lasted that long before developing the problem I posted on this e-bulletin board.
