Nintendo Wii wont work. When console turned on screen changes from no signal to black screen. Previously worked fine until it was plugged into a friends TV using their wiring and scart lead. Is it possible for the TV to have caused a problem with the WII

  1. This happens if the wires are hooked up wrong(Video and Audio reversed)
  2. The tv is on the wrong channel
  3. The tv signal settings have been changed
  4. The signal settings on the wii have been changed
First check that all wires and connectors on the wii and tv are properly and snugly connected
and check the tv channel.
Then check the settings in both.

Is there a gamecube control plugged into it? If so edit your question to let me know...

Also, if there isn't just call the nintendo manufacturer it should be in the booklet somewhere (it will cost) OR if you hav only just bought it, and have the receipt take it back to where you got it

Maybe your plug socket is not working or the fuse in the plug isn't working, plug other stuff into that plug socket and check

or

try this

make sure your remote is working. Sometimes my wiimote will de-sync. Try turning it on with the wii's power button on the console and not the remote. If it turns on then all you have to do is re-syc your remote and your good. If not then all I can say is send it in to be repaired.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Your described problem indicates that your friend's TV has a faulty INPUT circuitry, Depending to what connector you are using, it is also possible that the cable has shorted out and therefore affected the graphics/video output of both consoles. While it would be possible to effect repairs if you are familiar with electronic circuitry & components, use of a DVM and a soldering iron as well as safe repair practices, it may be to your advantage to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Seems to be a problem with the connector. Which might have got damaged during this movement. Try plugging the Wii back to the same old TV and see if it works their. If not, Then its time to buy a new connector cable. If it work properly their, Then its time to have a look at connector at your TV !!!

Hi!

How are the lights behaving on your Wii? Have you checked for the cables between wii and tv?

My wii does not display image

This problem is concerned with the inside of the wii console. The wires from inside the wii to the av inputs are shot. You have to take it to nearest nintendo showroom to fix it.

Black screen WII

Either the wires arent plugged in or your tv has a technical problem with "Tv Input." If your tv had wiring problems with the red/yellow/white cords, wiggle the cords until something is shown on screen and try to keep it shown on screen with something. Hope that helps.

Wii is showing in Black & White with sound.

I would check your video connection. And make sure all cables are secured. It is possible the video cable may be bad. Try it on another TV, if it works, it may be the TV

When I turn my Wii on, I just get a black screen.

Ok,

all experts will advise the same,

As your Wii is only a month old, i would suggest taking it back to the store or ringing nintendo as its in warrentee, dont try repairing it yourself as it will void the warentee.

hope this helps

Plug in the wii system and everything comes in black and white

Try plugging it into another scart socket, this sometimes happens when a tv does not support 60hz. the result is a screen that has no colour. You could try just plugging it onto the seperate av inputs. Most tv's these days have one scart that will work ok and in colour.

WII CONSOLE

When you turn the Wii on, and the light goes from red or orange to green, press A a few times (this would be to get through the warning/safety screen) then wait a minute. Then when you wave your remote about, you will feel it vibrating as it goes over the channel icons on the wii menu screen. Plus a blue light will be lit at the bottom of the remote to denote player 1.

If all of this happens, it is just a lead or TV input issue. If these things do NOT happen, the Wii is broke and needs fixing by Nintendo!

My wii doesn't have full range of color.

Just because it's new, doesn't mean that it's not broken.

Double check the cables. Make sure that they are plugged in to the proper ports.

Take the Wii to a friends house and plug it into his TV. Verify that the problem is with Wii and not the TV.
