    Hello

What version of Windows are you running?

  • Shakeel Muradali Feb 23, 2009

    Hi,

This is a common problem with many Vista OS. There are many causes for this issue. first off, you can try pressing the "CTRL+ALT+DEL" keys and you should get the option for task manager. Click on task manager and then the file menu. click on run and type "explorer.exe" without the quotes.

This should give you the startbar and all the desktop icons. This probably means you ahve a virus that has disabled explorer from running at the startup.

Try running an antivirus software to fix this issue.

If you still do not see any display on the screen connect and external desktop monitor and try to check it with it. If you are able to see a display on that monitor it clearly means that the screen has gone bad and you need to get the lcd replaced of your monitor

Power off your computer, then power on hitting F12, del or whichever key it states to go into setup. From the setup menu, select change boot order or boot menu. Set the CD ROM to the first boot device. Save changes. Restart. Your computer should boot to cd starting the installation.

My dell computer with Vista won't restart

Try the Vista startup repair option by pressing F8 before windows loads. If this doesn't work you can attempt to restore the factory image from the same menu (you will loose all data).
