I had to gently clean the lense with a q-tip with just a hint of rubbing alcohol on it then move the laser carriage all the way out and in two or three times then play a CD for the player to work again. There was a fine layer of dust around the laser so I think that it may be very sensitive to that kind of thing.

Make that a good bit of alcohol and I am not sure about moving the carriage in and out even though that worked the first time. I can hear noise when it's spinning now like something is rubbing against something whereas it didn't do that before. Maybe the tray is not level.

Nevermind, it was a burnt out brushed motor. I fixed the brushes but I can't identify the burnt resistor R967 that burns out because of the shorting motor.

Lost the remote for the ESDVD100 System, bought a RCA Universal Remote, but need a 5-digit code to program the remote. Does the ESDVD100 system have one?

If google and manufacturer website are of no help then ask a search agency like http://manualfox.com/remote.htm - They do a great job.
The service is not for free, but often worthy (you only pay if they find what you are asking for).

Nexxtech ESDVD100 DVD player gone bad, how to replace?

You can try cleaning it with a dvd disk cleaner first. If that dont work by a cheap dvd player and run it to the inputs on the back of the surround player.

Player does not recognize that disc is in-states "no disc" after "loading"

I solved the problem by buying a new DVD player- wouldn't have been able to replace a motor, and repair cost is as much as a new purchase-the times we live in! Thanks for the info which helped me make the decision.

System doesn't read any disk

Mine started doing this just the other day and stopped playing the DVD it was playing. I found a solution for a portable player that worked on this one. You need to open it, eject the tray and slide the laser carriage back and forth all the way two or three times gently and by grabbing on to plastic that hooks around the metal bar on the right if you are facing the player from the front. Then plug it in and play a CD all the way through and this recalibrates the laser.

I wonder how many people throw away their DVD players when this is all it needs. Makes me sick to think about it.

Dvd tray do not open

Someone on this site suggested a fix for a different player.  Open up the unit to get to the dvd changer.  If the disk are not aligned, then push them so they are even.  It may take a while to see where they are but it worked for me.
