Question about Epson Stylus Multifunction Inkjet Printer/ Copier/ Scanner

4 Answers

My Epson Stylus DX5000 won't work. All the lights are flashing and my comouter tells me to open it up and remove the "foreign" object. I can't see any foreign object and can't see hoe t open it up other than just lift the top to access the printer cartridges. Everything seems to be clear down there but I get the error almost immediately on powering up. Any ideas? Thanks, Norman Wilson

I had the same problem and checked for paper jam but wasnt any so i kept turning on the printer while looking in side and found that one of the little white cogs where the ink box rests wasnt catching when i pushed it into place the printer set itself and started working maybe you could try this. good luck.

Ink light and paper light flash alternatively, printer does not work

Hi - According to the Epson manual that error indicates that paper may be blocking movement of the print head.
Turn off the printer, then open the cover and remove any jammed paper or foreign objects. Turn the printer on. If the lights continue to flash you're most likely going to need a dealer service.
Hope it's the paper.
Good Luck, Mikeywaf

Hi
I think maybe it could be that your ink cartages are slipped on the thin belt that moves them from one side to another or it stuck or belt come off take a look and see it the ink will slid from side to side you can do this by hand but don’t push them to hard, that what it sounds like to me it worth a try.

Can't open Epson DX5000 to remove object stuck inside

sounds a little draconian, but sometimes if you invert th peinter and give it a tap, the foreign object may fall out. Just don't leave it upside down too long!

Epson Stylus CX4600

If all of the lights on the control panel are flashing and you see the letter E in the Copy window, the print head may not be able to move back and forth freely. Follow these steps:
  1. Turn off the Stylus CX.

  2. Open the scanner.

  3. Remove any jammed paper or other obstructions from the paper path.

  4. Carefully lower the scanner.

  5. Turn the Stylus CX back on.
alert_note.gif Note: If you can't remove the paper or foreign object yourself, do not use force and do not disassemble the Stylus CX.

And the last thing you could do, is to check if the rod where your carriage slide is dry...if so put a little bit of oil on it

Turn the printer off. Open the cover and check for any foreign objects that can cause your print head not to move. Check if you have put the ink cartridges correctly and make sure that the cover for the ink tray is closed. Turn the printer on, if your going to see the same status of the lights, it will be a hardware issue.
