Drum bearing. fwt645rhs0

The rear drum bearing is making a loud during the spin cycle, in turning the drum by hand i don't feel any play in the bearing, however the bearing feels rough and will not last long, i looked up the replacement parts and it looks like the cost of repair of this washer will be more the half the cost of a replaceing the washer, my concern is that this looks like a design flaw and i am wonder is the replacement parts or the newer washers havecorrected this problem, this washer is only 6 years old and there are only two people in thishousehold

thanks,
cliff

    loud noise on spin cycle

  • Anonymous Feb 24, 2009

I have a Kenmore front load model # 42822201 and the bearing went out after 4 yrs and 11 months. It was on extended warrantee but would have cost me $1,000.00 for repair. It was fixed and the repair lasted less than 6 months. The bearing which I believe are molded with other parts must be defective. Conside this and ask sales person about this feature. Now I either repair it again at my own expense or I buy a new one soon. I am doing my research as I speak.

It seems I have the very same problem. However I'm not a service man so I need a shop manual or repair manual so that I can take the washer apart to get to the problem piece. Can anyone tell me where I can get this manual. Thanks.

My washer will not spin dry. I can freehand spin it and it spins fine. Is this a major fix or an easy fix.

The drum bearing in my fwt645rhs0 frigidaire is bad. I want to know how to pull the old bearing and replace it and where to find the correct replacement part.

Bearings failure in these machines is mainly caused by over soap use and use of non HE soap.

Bearings failure in these machines is mainly caused by over soap use and use of non HE soap.
the manufactures tell you to use the HE soap this is not just to seal soap, but regular soap is formulated for top load machines the use alot of water the He detergant is formulated for the front load and low water using top load machines. Using the regular detergant in place of the he detergant will cause over sudsing which causes the machine to work harder to get rid of the suds and bitts of soap end up getting in the bearing and drying it out then the bearing starts wearing out. THIS IS NOT A MANUFACTURE DEFECT !!! They told you to use HE detergant in the owners manule.

Loud Bearing Noise During Spin Cycle- MAH4000AWW

I don't know these front loaders so well but, here's a couple of things to look for.
1) If belt driven, look for the spring loaded tensioner. Once tension is released, check the pully & see if it has excessive play.
2) Check the gasket on front panel & see if drum has rubbed thru it in order to make metal to metal contact.
3) There is alot of pressure on that rear bearing...make sure it's not egg shaped or scored on the inside.

If all else fails, shotgun it (in other words, replace those moving parts you suspect:)

Loud noise during rinse cycle

Hi

If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary. Also check for drum bearing failure if your washing machine is noisy on the spin cycle. Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings.

Turn the drum by hand and listen for loud noises. If the drum itself is split or the 'spider' is corroded, broken or has come apart from the back of the drum it will create a loud noise on every turn of the drum. (When the bearings have gone bad, the noise is constant the entire time the drum is spinning.)

Look for obvious dents and creases in the drum or look for coins or small objects stuck inside the tub underneath the drum when a horrendous noise is made while clothes are in the tub.

Clear the water pump from obstructions like coins or small objects when a noise occurs while the washing machine is emptying water.

Remove the sump hose and look for bra wires if you hear a light scraping noise when the drum is turned by hand. You can also check to make sure a wire isn't poking out of one of the holes in the drum. In this case, you can pull the wire out easily with pliers.

Take the belt off and run the motor alone if you hear a high pitched squealing noise to check for motor bearing damage or wear. If you still hear the noise without the belt, it's the motor bearing.

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

Our Hotpoint WF321 1200 spin is just 3 years old and now makes a very loud noise when in use - both for the washing and spin cycles. is the drum loose / off balance? any help appareciated

Remove lower rear cover of washer, remove drive belt, and from the front spin drum by hand, if it feels rough, or is rumbling, or noisy, then the main drum bearings are failing.
This is a major repair!!!.

Loud banging/thumping during spin cycle on my kenmore front load

this sounds like this could be the bearings,to check for this, open door and with yourhand lift the inner chrome drum and let it fall then lift again and if you feel a knocking sound and a lot of play in it then its the bearings,i know there should be movement in the drum but this will feel more of a knocking.

Frigidaire VERY loud spin - Model #FWT645RHS0

If it's the shocks it would be walking around and bouncing. Probably the rear tub bearing is bad. If you can reach in and push up on the metal basket and feel play in it, this is the problem. This requires replacing the rear half of the tub and sometimes the basket. It's a pain even with 2 people.

During spin cycle started making loud noise now drum feels loose DURING SPIN CYCLE DRUM SOUNDS AS IF IT'S HITTING SIDE.. FEELS LOOSE WHEN I PUSH IT AROUND FRIGIDARE GLTF1040ASO

ckd your warranty papers sounds like rear drum support(spider) has broken will require new basket and rear drum half est cost 400-600 spider is not a separate part and rear bearing is probably damaged that too is not a separate part and require rear tub replacement
