Special characters in final draft 6 or 7

By Charlie - usenet poster

I need to a few greek and hebrew characters to my script. I've got
both final draft 6 and 7. My script is in the courier final draft
font. I've tried to copy and paste a character from the character map
(courier final draft font) and it doesn't work. Some of the more
common characters do (like foreign accent chars) but not greek or
hebrew chars. They just come out as question marks. I've also tried
to change my font to courier new in my script and then copy the hebrew
characters from the courier new character set in character map. I
still only get question marks in the script. Any ideas???

If Final Draft lets you do that, then it's just a matter of getting a
Greek font. I don't think my ScriptThing for Windows let's me
selectively change fonts (as is the case with standard word processors).
That may be one of the new features in a program that happens *not* five
years old.

MMS lets you use any font -- at least the Mac version does.

The only way I know of to accomplish it is to overprint the page with
the Greek and Hebrew letters. It will take soem figuring out how far
down the blank page to place them, not to mention where on the line,
but it can be done. I've done it. Then for all subsequent script
print outs, you'll have to make photocopies of those particular pages
if you don't want to do the overprint again every time.

Good luck!

Can you paste a graphic into FD? If you can, maybe you can do a screen
capture of the phrase or word or whatever it is you want to convey and
copy/paste it in.

BUT... it's pretty unorthodox to include this anyway. What (if you can
say) is the *reason*?

:), thanks for the laugh...but I really do need to use the
letters...and typing out aleph or gimel just isn't the best way to get
across what I'm trying to get across.

Sure!

Give the Greek characters names like Tassos and Nick.

Give the Hebrew characters names like Shlomo and Rachel.
