Spilled coke on my laptop, now keys aren't working correctly.

Spilled a glass of coke over my laptop, now when I type some of the letters use the shortcuts instead.
I've checked to see if the alt or ctrl key is stuck by neither is.
What is causing it?

i strongly advice you that don't use your laptop as of now.
the reason why keyboard are malfunctioning is the subtance of coke are go inside your unit and if you will still use it it may caused you a much problem.
you need to look a technician and open your laptop to take or dry any subtances come inside your laptop.

My laptop is only typing the numbers that appear on the letter keys. For example when I hit the letter J, it types a number 1. When I hit the letter k key, it types a 2, etc. How do I get it to go back...

Usually you have to hold the "Fn" key to get to these. Look for a "NumLock" key to turn this off. You may need to use the "Fn" key to select numlock.

The keyboard skips about half of keys including spaces.Help!

This sounds like maybe the keyboard got wet or some food/liquid spilled on it. Is this on a laptop or desktop? If it's a laptop, try to dry it out, if not, have the keyboard replaced by a professional like me. If it's a desktop, spring for a new keyboard, they're only about $5-10.

Letters are typing as numbers

one of the F keys turns certain keys on the right side to number keys, so it can act like a full size keyboard with the 10 key panel on the right.. Look carefully at the F keys to determine which one it is. Or consult the manual.

Some letters can't be typed

You need to replace the whole keyboard since the 4 letters is not working at all. You cannot change only 4 letter keys from your laptop.

Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.

Missing letters

  1. You might have loose connection or contact with your PC.
  2. This was either spilled by water or moist that corrode the circuit board/ film.
  1. try to pull your connector then try to see if its contact was corroded and clean it with an pencil eraser (if possible - USB type) or clean the metal contacts with a sharp metal object.
  2. open the circuit of the keyboard and wipe the moist out with a clean cotton or absorbent cloth. be sure to put all the keys intact. Be extra careful while opening it.
Hope this thing works.

Types extra letters or symbols

suspect the drivers first, then go from there. update your drivers, then see if it corrects the problem.if not, then you need to start considering other options (keyboard fault, damaged keys,) etc. sometimes the most complex looking problems can be the drivers at fault. see how you get on first. but do persevere.
