My mini max 500gb has just stopped working. i cannot hear the fan at all and all my other daisy chained mini max hard drives still work and register on my desktop

Your Imega external enclosure has malfunctioned. If you can, you need to take the enclosure apart and take the harddrive out and test it with a computer desktop that has sata connectable, if your computer is able to read, then your iomega harddrive enclose suffer malfuction, if the computer isn't able to read the harddrive through the sata connection, then your harddrive is bad.

Averatec AV6130HS won't boot beyond the BIOS? It says SMART enabled but SMART failure - but there's no SMART feature in the BIOS.

Hi,
The harddrive on the unit can be causing the problem. Disconnect the harddrive and check if the error code changes.
If the error changes , it a faulty harddrive.
Second , you can reset the BIOS to factory defaults and then check for error. Also let me know if there are any beep codes that hear when the SMART error is displayed

Thanks

A kind of sound is coming from left side of touchpad in my new dell inspiron 1545 laptop problem:

Hi i'm Rain.
Ok there are only 3 sounds you will here from your computer laptop.
  1. You will hear the fan running.
  2. You will hear the HardDrive running.
  3. You will hear a CD-rom drive running. Wheather its a DVD or CD-RW.
You will need to turn it over and listen from the bottom. If there is venting then more than likely its the fan.
If its where the Media drive like i mentioned {DVD/CD-rom}. Then thats your sound. If the sound is coming from an area that you can't visually see something that it could be.
Then its your hard drive. To resolve the problem you will need to first locate and name the item that is making the sound. Follow the steps i have given you and locate the source of the sound.

Hi as for symptoms you have problems with you hardware. Basically thats means that one of the devices like harddrive or Video card fail to go through POST test. You can check your users manual for this very symptom

I have a EMachine T6534 which won't start. I shut

I agree...sounds like a power supply problem. Typically a bad power supply will not damage the motherboard. It should still be functional.
