Problem for ATI 3D Charger (4 MB) PCI Graphic Card
Digital 164SX & ATI 3D Charger 4MB PCI - No video???

I have recently purchased a Digital 164SX motherboard & 21164 533mhz
processor, however I am having trouble getting the system up and running.
When I power the system on, there are no beeps, and the monitor remains in
suspend mode. I tested to make sure the board had power - I removed the
memory and received the 5 beeps that indicate 'no memory found' I have
double checked the configuration switches and everything looks OK.
Has anyone used an ATI video card on one of these boards? I am trying to
use a 3D Charger (Rage IIc chipset). The Alpha-OEM hardware compatibility
list shows only the Matrox Millenium II, #9 Motion 331, and a Symmetric card
as being tested. What other cards are known to work?
I was also wondering if it could be a memory problem - I am using 4x64mb
Toshiba 100mhz 8Mx64 dimms. Should these work with this board??

Thanks Jurgen, I went out and picked up a S3 Virge/DX today, and it worked
like a charm. I was able to boot with all 4 DIMMs although I haven't had
time to play with it to see if I have the same startup problem...

I have the exact same board but use a S3 Virge/DX PCI card with 4 MB as
my videocard. As memory I use 2 standard 64MB 100MHz SDRAM DIMMs. They work
but there is something odd. When the machine does a cold start (and is being
shutdown for a while) it always comes up. But when I shutdown and power off the
system and bring it up again it does not always work. My guess is the memory
(it's non ECC). Maybe you can try to boot with just two DIMMs?
