WD External Hard Drive 320GB Cyclic Error

I bought one WD External Hard Drive 320GB and when i copy some large file ( earlier ) now for every file.. it is comes out with Windows Delayed Write Fail and Sysem is Stuck.. I changed my Cable many times.. removed the partitions, recreate it.. no chance .. is there any chance to fix all the problems

since your talking about the External drives, a lot of reasons makes this happen. if the resolution above link cant help you, then try this:

Make sure that update the driver of your PC hard drive. Usually, this errors appear if your moving from one hard drive brand to another ex: seagate to samsung etc....

updated hard drive driver resolve this.

Make sure the cables are alright. Or at least have the latest service pack. USB drivers causes issues as well. I updated mine and the problem did not crop up anymore. hope this would help.

My Western Digital 320GB external hard drive not accessible


i noticed you ran the chkdsk utility on this drive did you try to repair bad sectors or just files

click start control panel administrative tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes


automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now start


you might tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive


I found that you get best results by ticking one box then returning after it has finished then tick the other box if still no joy


try to use the external hard drive in a different computer and check whether you are able to access the data that is present on the external hard drive or you can try to connect it to a different port and check

My 320gb western digital wont defrag as it says i have correupt files, it also wont let me copy to it as it keeps coming up with loads of error messages! Help! I cant even scan it!

What you can do is copying all the files to an other HD or drive after having recovered the data with a specific recovery software :

Your WD drive is probably defective and good for the recycing bin after these operations . Do not overwrite your existing data on it !

There is an i/o error on some images and music files, on WD passport external hdd


The disk-drive inside the case is "dying".
Try to copy all the files that you can, before it's completely "dead".

Then, if the drive is still under warranty, exercise the warranty to get a free replacement.

If not under warranty, WD has a "customer loyalty" program -- take the serial-number, and buy a new Passport from WD's web-site, citing the serial-number, to get a big discount on the purchase.

I cant move large video file from my laptop to my 1TB WD Drive


Reformat the drive from Fat32 to NTFS.
Largest file size on Fat32 is 4 gig

ensure it hasnt damaged and that you didn't passed a magnetic field through it, so that you damaged the sytem files of the hard drive...

Wd external hard disk and lenovo s10 notebook problem


this is due to virus or malware. it is possible that it is present in hard disk. whenever you tries to open the file, at that time the virus get activated and creats error.........for this you need to install the latest updated antivirus. but some antivirus are worthless. so i recommend you to use quickheal antivirus and scan the hard disk

USB hard drive not recognized by Mac and by PC


Does the external drive work when connected to some _other_ computer? (Friend? Office? Home?)

It could be a failure either in the "hardware" inside the external-case (the USB adapter & interface)
or in the disk-drive "inside" the external-case.

So, a qualified technician can open the external drive, remove the disk-drive, and connect it directly to a computer, to see if the files can be "directly" read from the disk-drive.

If not, then you should search online for a "data recovery" service -- they are expensive, but they physically repair a damaged disk-drive, just long-enough to copy your data to another disk-drive.

WD passport 320GB Can I use it as storage, not backup?


You can use it as storage if you would like. You can also delete files once they are put on the passport. When it is connected to the computer open my computer and it will be listed there. You can use it as storage by copying files into this way rather than syncing it. Syncing it could cause you to lose files.
