Question about Canon Speedlite 430EX TTL Flash

1 Answer

Canon 430EX flash will not flash in slave mode.

I want to use the canon 430EX flash as a slave driven by the normal internally build flash from my canon rebel camera. Can't seel to make the 430EX flash when I have it in slave mode when it is not attached to the camera. I want to have it a few feet away on a 6 foot stand adding light from a different direction.

The flash ratio between a master unit mounted on my Canon 5D Mark II and slave doesn't work properly. A couple of shots are fine but then all of sudden the slave unit fires ar full power, then a few week...

If you had the ATG Gold MG8k Flash Kim X3, then your 430EX II or 580EX II can transforms into wireless radio ATG ETTL II.

If you are using the outdated wireless IR ETTL with a 580EX II as a Master. Then you have to set the Slave (ATG/580EX II/430EX II) body facing close to the Master.

Canon 430ex ii seems to flicker rapidly sometimes before taking pictures

Yes it is. The system is simply measuring the flash to meter the exposure.

How to reset

Removing the batteries for more than a minute should revert the flash to its default settings. Things like the channel, slave group, FEC, etc. will need to be reset.

My canon speedlite 430ex does not charge up, batteries are new and rear screen works/lights up any ideas?

Sounds like an internal wiring circuit problem. It's strange that the screen lights up but the flash doesn't charge. You should probably get it checked by Canon.

Camera Canon Rebel XSI not recognise flash 430Ex. The shoe looks OK and contacts on Flash the same

Clean the Hot Shoe and make sure there is no sulfur layer or dirt. MOst of the time its happens for Sulfur layer and not proper connection with flash shoe and camera shoe. Make sure all this and let me know. Also make sure the battery of the flash are fully charged and thats turn on mode.

The normal flash will not work

The camera in P mode does not allow the pop-up flash to work until you turn it on. Make sure the camera is in green box mode and if the flash does not work then the camera will have to be sent to canon for service.
