Question about CyberPower 525SL (CPS525SL) UPS System

1 Answer

My wiring fault light is on.

What does it mean when the wiring fault light is on. I don't know how long it has been on. Does this indicate the wiring is bad on the back up or the input power supply.

The input power is bad (outlet) it could mean your phase and neutral are backwards. What country are you in? If in USA home depot or lowes sells cheap outlet tester that let you know right away what wire is wrong

APC SURT3000XL UPS

The fault indicator means that there is a fault in the circuitry of the UPS. It could be the control board or another part of the system. (If the batteries were bad, you would see the Replace Battery light illuminate.) If the SURT3000XL is under warranty, contact APC. The standard warranty period is 2 years for repair/replacement. Note: you'll probably have to pay for the shipping of the unit. If the unit is out of warranty, replace it with a new UPS.

I hope this helps.

Hi The electronic fault is ON then I heared an exlosion on my UPS comet extreme 6Kva. The Ups can be operate but it can charge my batteries. what can be the problem? mabe the diodes? thanks

The fault means that there was something wrong with the ground wire. I would assume the capacitor was leaking and bulged which is why you had the fault in the first place.

The sound is probably the capacitor exploding.

This sucks but if it's still working fine, I would would just go with it until it completely dies, which is not that likely, but you will always have the fault light on and probably a beeping indicator.

What does wiring fault light mean?

The Site Wiring Fault LED will indicate three status:
• Led On: The site wiring fault function is enabled and a site wiring fault is present.
• Led Off: The site wiring fault function is disabled.
• Led Flash: The Site wiring fault function is enabled and there is no site wiring fault.

When the input power is normal the Site wiring fault LED will flash.
• To disable this function, press the Site wiring fault LED button for 10 sec when the UPS is plugged in to wall power and the UPS is off.
• To enable this function, press the Site wiring fault LED button for 10 sec when the UPS is plugged in to wall power and the UPS is off.

Is the wiring fault light indicator lit? This means that the outlet that the unit is connected to is either not properly grounded, or has reversed wiring. First, try connecting the unit to another outlet. If the unit does not display the wiring fault light in the new outlet you will need to have an electrician correct the problem with the other faulty outlet. If it still displays the wiring fault more troubleshooting will be necessary to determine the cause

Power inverter installation?? (Vector 2500W in Tacoma truck)

Don, There are two ways in which I would have satisfyied the 6 foot guide line. 1. Mounted the VECTOR under the hood. 2. Supplied the VECTOR with additional "bed mounted" battery to be charged via the present wiring with a two pole single throw "knife switch" as as the "connect/disconnect to the vehicle battery/alternator for charging the new battery. In any case, you should make it a twice yearly thing to inspect the 15 feet of wire now installed, for wear and tear faults that could result in sparks, smoke, fire. You may need to visit local electrical supply house to see what they have to offer in the way of small "breaker-boxes" that may be capable of handling such large GAGE wire. I MEAN #2 gage wire IS very thick and expensive per foot!!!! A disconnect box similar to type found mounted to brick-work and next to and connecting a 1.5 to 2 ton central air unit might do the trick. But anyhow, if you are not going to use the VECTOR disconnect the POSITIVE lead at the battery and tape the connector with electrical tape to be safe. Let me know how it works out for you. lmistyrel@ aim.com 12fixlouie

Indicator Lights

Hello kingfisher1

You can find the owner's manual for the Minuteman Pro 520 UPS HERE.

You can find support for Minuteman UPS' HERE.

Refer to page (4) of the owner's manual for a description of the UPS' front panel controls and indicators.

Looks like if the 4th LED from the right is on, you need to replace your battery.

Left to Right the LED's are:
(1) Online; Boost; or On Battery (depending upon the symbol that is illuminated)
(2) Fault
(3) Overload
(4) Replace Battery

Please, let us know if you have any more questions, observations, comments, etc. on this topic. We are happy to help.

Thank you
BJ @:)

Help with my liebert powersure interactive 1000?

The wiring fault light indicates that the polarity of your power outlet is wrong (positive and negative wires have been inverted) or that the ground is missing/faulty.

This have nothing to do with the configuration of the UPS. Unfortunately (for liability reasons), I have to tell you that the only person who can fix that is an electrician.

Just for testing, try plugging it into another power outlet elsewhere in your house to see if it is any different.

Wiring Fault light

You can download the manual from the link below: http://www.sourceresearch.com/cyberpower/cyberpower-pdf.cfm?PdfPage=625_Manual.pdf The "wiring fault" could be serious, as per manual: "This LED indicator will illuminate to warn the user that a wiring problem exists, such as bad ground, missed ground, or reversed wiring. If this is illuminated, user is advised to disconnect all electrical equipment from the outlet and have an electrician check the outlet to insure proper ground." I would turn the UPS off, unplug all equipment, wait 10 seconds, reset the circuit breaker (if tripped) and turn the unit on. If you still have an issue then it's probably fried! Have you had any thunder storms or electrical power outages recently? Check your house insurance because it may cover a replacement unit. Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!
