Go to the website of canon and go to the software section for an older printer like Pixma IP5200, download the cdlabel software
install and away you go

Linux may not have a driver for your printer it wont work without the correct driver. Log into the cannon site they have a driver for Linux.

Pick the one appropriate for your OS; the manuals are available as executable files (self-contained HTML archives from my experience with other Canon printers).
