Question about E-Machines T1742 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Very slow processing time

I reused a e-machine T1742 that my daughter had not been using for sometime. I gave it to my mother to use after I got her dsl service. The processing time (I think that is the term I want to use) terribly slow. When I turn it on it takes a while to get to the point where I can go online. Also when I click on anything it takes forever for the page to load online or offline. It can take up to a couple of minutes for it to process after I click on something

Did that change or has it always been like that. Does any other computer work better on that particular DSL line?

You should put Ubuntu on it. It's one of the fastest and easiest operating systems to use and best of all it's FREE. It's perfect for someone who will probably only use the internet and other small programs.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

Someone gave me a emachinine tower model t1742 no cords

I have purchased many different computer cords from stores, flea markets, and yard sales. Sometimes, you can find a small computer repair shop in your local area that will help you with the cords you might need and if you are really lucky, they might give you one or at least have a used cord to sell you. I know power cables can run 10 to 25 dollars retail, but I have purchased them for a little as a dollar from yard sales.

According to the information you have provided, I assume you wish to look for drivers for T1742 desktop. The VGA model is intel extreme graphics. You can find all the required driver by inputting required info on this website.

Here is a direct link to the driver if you prefer. It would be better to update all the drivers if not done already.

If you have installed an extra PCI-E or AGP, let me know the model number and I'll help you locate the drivers.

Most motherboard used the button pin type of battery for the bios. Specifically, your board used the CR2032 , 3VDC battery. Just be sure that your PC is off when replacing the battery.
Good luck.

My son's Emachines T1742 Desktop was left on overnight and when try wake it from sleep mode but it was completely turned off, tried starting it up and I only get a nonstop blinking of the orange and green...

Well maybe a power surge happened last night.

Is the computer plugged into a power protector? If not maybe something got fried.

Check for the smell of burnt components. It smells like burning plastic kind of. If everything looks fine make sure everything is plugged in tightly like the power cord and hard drives etc.

Hope this helped.

Restore disks

Alot of manufactures will include restore disks with the pc. However if you don't have them anymore you will need to order them from the manufacture either on-line or over the phone. Hope this helps.
