Question about Car Speakers & Subwoofers

1 Answer

I have recently purchased a Pioneer AVIC900BT and am having some problems finding a mounting bracket that will work with my Cadillace 2000 Seville SLS. I took the unit to Best Buy., for their assistance and was told that since there is not a "standard factory" mounting kit available they would not be able to complete the install without the unit sticking out about 1" from the dash and that custom fabrication for a mounting bracket would be necessary. I've spoke with another person in the auto stereo installation business and he gave me a part number for a double din Metra kit that would be along the lines of what I was needing to complete the install. My delimna is truely knowing whether or not this radio will or will not work in this vehicle. If it will what kind of searches or materials could be used to create a custom bracket such as the process I might use for fiberglass or a sheet of abs plastic or doors / covers etc. to cover up the 1" overage that the Best Buy installer refferred to. In looking over the existing unit while it is still mounted and eyeballing it to the unfitted new unit it would appear that the new unit would be close to being a near match to the existing size of the factory installed bose sound system. Due to various reasons I'm a little leary of following the advice of the Best Buy Tech. and I'm left wondering if he even bothered to really try to install the radio in the first place since from the get go even though several calls were placed prior to my appt. was very negative regarding the whole installation. Seems like if it involved any work they really weren't interested in helping out due to their installation and warranty policies. Thanks Much for any advice.

I Have a 1997 chevy blazer and was told to purchase the stereo installation kit (model AW-444GM). I cannot seem to figure out how it is supposed to fit. The problem i've found is that there is not a kit...

This is a multi kit that will work for a variety of GM vehicles, so you have to match the brackets from your factory radio up with a set of the brackets that came with the kit and attach them to the main housing. Sometimes you can even still use the same brackets that came on the factory radio you just need a 10mm socket to get them off and use the supplied nuts and bolts in the new kit to attach them to the housing.

Return the speakers and find a dealer you are more comfortable with. This guy sounds like he just wants to make a buck. Chineese, REALLY? Come on.....

I need bow specifications for a pioneer ts-w308f

Hello, The problem with the enclosure is that you purchased a "free-air" sub, which is designed to NOT use an enclosure. You need to simply mount the sub on a baffle (board) that covers the whole entire rear deck of your vehicle, and seperates the inside of the trunk from the cabin of the vehicle. Use sealant to keep the two compartments sealed air-tight and mount the sub on the baffle-board. The other option, is to build a very large box (larger than 3 cubic feet) that would be incredibly huge for the subwoofer, as a free-air, it has a VERY high QTS, and relies on a massive amount of air behind the woofer to allow it to reach low frequencies. The best bet would be to get rid of the free-air sub and purchased a sealed enclosure subwoofer for use in a small (.6-1 cubic foot) sealed box.

How do i wire up my pioneer sterio so that the steering wheel paddles in my punto operate the sterio ?

First you need a stereo that has the remote control option or you can purchase an interface from PIE (Precision Interface Electronics). This will work only if you have a remote for your pioneer. Let me know what kind of Pioneer you have and the Make, model and year of your car and I can even find you the best solution. But you also should be able to go some where such as you local car audio shop, best buy or circuit city. Good Luck.

I lost the plastic frame that goes on the car stereo head unit of my deh-30mp. don't think pioneer usa will deliver to me here in Ireland. Where can i get one.

try looking around at some car parts places. if they sell car audio equipment (speakers, wiring harnesses, etc...) they should have the face plate or something that would act as one. usually theres a kit with a mounting bracket and a face cover plate for around the head unit after its installed. just find one to fit your car.

the cardboard idea would work too, but id just buy the replacement part if i could find it.
