How to re-sync the tape transport on canon gl2

The camera shut down completely (power cut off) with a tape in it. There was no tape eject response at all. I got the stuck tape out of the machine, but the transport is out of sync. The camera will not turn on even though the power light comes on.  How do I re-set the tape mechanism to allow  me to put another tape in?  I need to try this onmy own as I cannot afford a repair shop right now.

SOURCE: GL2 - Tape gets jammed everytime. Eject lights up immediately

This problem is usually related to the Dew Sensor, Unfortunately you can not by-pass the dew sensor. I paid a repair to fix, but he could not. Canon must repair the dew sensor.
I have same prob. I just capture directly to computer since my tape will not open. I would be interested in buying cameras like this, i can use them to still monitor images.

SOURCE: Canon GL2: eject tape/ condensation error... service locations??

This is related to the dew sensor, and now you can not by-pass this error except by paying $ 300- 500 to Canon repair people.
I can solve your problem by taking this camera, with a faulty designed dew sensor, off your hands for a couple hundred dollars.
Instead of spending hundreds, you could actually make a few dollars by selling a camera that does not work. I have a way i can use these cameras that do not need the tape.

SOURCE: My GL2 camera constantly wants me to eject tape!!

The problem that you are experiencing with your Canon GL2 camcorder is a common complaint on this model camcorder. The eject the tape error is the camcorders way of saying something is wrong and it needs to be sent in for repair. It is not a defect with the camcorder, it is simply the most common complaint when the mechanical assembly is not running smoothly and perfectly. There are parts of the mechanical assembly that over a period of time wear and also possible defective parts that can cause this problem. The average repair cost for this repair is usually between $250 and $450 parts and labor. This also includes cleaning and servicing.

This is usually caused by a failed component in the moisture detection circuitry within the camera. This will require disassembling the camera to remove the tape mechanism and repair. This can usually be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

My GL2 camera constantly wants me to eject tape!!  I am unable to use my camera because it forces me to eject  the tape. I've switch tapes and use new tapes and still the same  results. Only time it...

The immediate remedy may be cleaning the video heads. The head is not receiving the data from the inserted tape because it may be clogged. Use head cleaning tape for about 10 seconds but NO MORE. Try again, if not you may need to clean and adjust by trained technicians. Good luck -James. For further assistance, go to www.camerarepairjapan.com

Canon Gl2

Dirty video head! Playback newly opened blank tape for five minutes, after that eject, reinsert, playback then eject again five times, these will serve as your video head cleaner, never use "video head cleaning cassette tape" for it will only damage your camera. Most camera has built in video head cleaner installed inside and activates only when you insert, initial play/rec, and ejects a tape. If the problem is still there you need pro fix then.[:0)
