Question about Sony ICF-2010 AM/FM/SW Radio

1 Answer

I dropped my SONY 2010, and it will not work. I can't seem to get power going through it. Will probably have to take to a professional, if I can find one. Montreal, Canada. Any tips about what or where damage is most likely. Thankyou.

If you not have already found the cure..... The positive AA post may have been broken in the fall. Needs to be repaired and re-enforced.

My SonyICF-2010 works just fine when using the power adapter. However when I use battery power nothing happens. Please help. I love my old shortwave radio. Thanks.

This problem can be caused by a loose external power connector. This will require disassembly of the case and some soldering. it is possible that the battery terminals are corroded if any batteries have leaked.

I have a Sony icf 2010. No sound, but white noise.

AA batteries need replacing or the contacts are corroded and one more, the PC board is connected to the AA negative post by a wire that touches the pad on the PC board. Sometimes it will lose contact because of oxidation or corrosion, to fix this a wire soldered is best but just repositioning the wire will make the cure. Requires removal of the circuit boards.

ICF 2010, no sound suddenly

If the radio does not work with headphone then the external jack for audio may have broken loose from it's soldered points. Simple re solder may make the repair. Beyond that it would have to be diagnosed by a technician.
