I get this problem too. I found that it might be because I've moved the wheel while sewing previously and the needle doesn't go back to where it's supposed to be to be auto threaded correctly. To solve it, I just push the canister down until the threading parts are lowered. Once I see where the threader is positioned, I use the wheel to adjust the needle height to where the threader is, then I push the canister down all the way, and the needle is threaded. Hope it works for you!

Tread bunching up

Well, that is rather vague:

Operator error. 1. ALWAYS, ALWAYS grasp both threads when beginning your stitch line. 2. ALWAYS ALWAYS, make sure your needle is at that full up position before beginning a seam.

Brother cs-80 tension issue

Remove the thread from the machine. Install a brand new needle.

ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread the top thread. Set the upper tension to the midway point.

Insert the bobbin in the bobbin case (make sure it is turning the correct direction) and thread the bobbin tensioner. Install the bobbin case in the machine.

Insert the fabric under the presser foot. Lower the presser foot. While holding the top thread tail with your left hand, manually turn the handwheel (always toward you, never away!) one revolution until the top thread has pulled the bobbin thread up. Raise the presser foot and sweep both threads under the presser foot toward the back (you can use a stiletto, a pencil, or some other tool to sweep the threads). Lower the presser foot, gently hold both thread tails with your left hand and slowly turn the handwheel (either manually or by motor) to form a couple of stitches. Then let go of the thread tails and continue sewing.

If it continues to cause thread nests or you have other issues, then your machine may need service.

It could be a mechanical problem but before you do more first check your UPPER tension. If the upper thread tension is too loose and the bobbin tension is tight you can get looping on the underside of the stitch. So pull on the upper thread and feel if there's tension there. You can try to increase the upper tension and see if that helps.

My brother sewing machine keeps un-threading. I have checked the bobbin and took the thread all the way out and re-threaded it. What else can I do?

Make sure you are using the right needle for the application. Also check that your needle isn't damaged, bent or put in backwards. Sometimes a needle will have a burr on the eye, just sharp enough to break the thread. So always buy quality needles. Check your tension too.

Brother CS-6000i - the bobbin thread is not coming through in order to make a stitch. I have cleaned the bobbing case, changed needles, re-threaded machine, changed thread, and even changed bobbins. It was...

Check list:

1 - Flat side of the needle is facing the back of the machine.

2 - Threaded machine with the presser foot up - always.

3 - Bobbin thread is feeding from the spool in the correct direction and through the proper guides.

Lower and raise the threaded needle, holding onto the end of the thread.

If this does not pull the bobbin thread up, the timing may need adjusting.

There is a graphic for doing this as sewusa.com or take it into the dealer for service.

Brother CS-8150 Problems with bobbin thread

Double check to see if the bobbin is in upside down and the thread is feeding from the bobbin spool in the wrong direction.

I did this once after several years using the same machine, some days are just not as easy as they should be!

My needle broke it is a brother cs 80 How do I change the needle? no booklet to review.Performancesleds@yahoo.com

You can download a free manual here - http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocuments/Consumer/Users%20Manual/UM_CS_80_EN_181.PDF

Turn off the power. Turn the set screw to the left to release the needle.

Insert new needle, with the flat side to the back of the machine.

The manual shows a needle holder tool, but fingers work just as well as do a pair of hemostats.

My needle on my brother CS-100 sewing machine keeps getting stuck on the bobbin case. I think it may need to be retimed but do not know how to do this.

before you do that, make sure that the machine is threaded correctly. often when the needle is threaded from the wrong side, the thread is wrapped around the top wheels incorrectly, or the bobbin is not threaded right, it will cause the needle to get jammed in the bobbin. however, if this does not work, check their hotline and ask the maker what you should do. you can also go to a local sewing machine store and have them take a look at it.
