The best solution would be to unplug the unit and attempt to remove the top cover or lid and remove the disc from the platter, many units will unscrew from the sides and back panel.

The draws are not opening for me to play my dvd's

do visual inspection, try prying the cover open without force.
try putting can of air threw the door opening of the unit.

this can be many things
the switch for the draw it self
the computer that runs the system
it could be jammed
the dvd stuck in the machine and the 5-disc holder
with the unit off put your noise where air goes threw the equipment and smell to see if you smell something has burned smell, if you like something has burn the circuit than the unit need to be repaired.

is the unit have any type of Warrant with it.
if not just take it apart and play with it and maybe you mite fix it or
give to kid or friend that play with electronic stuff, they would fix it for free.
it is may not be worth fixing, call around for labor cost, parts.
than go look online or walmart or price check on the item you want and than deside if it is worth fixing

good luck rod

I bought my first RTD215 2 years ago but the dvd player got stuckand wont open nor play... I bought another unit same model and after 8 months the same thing happened.. the dvd player got stuck again but...

If you really like the unit (disregarding the DVD player issues), maybe you could buy a GOOD stand-alone DVD or BluRay player and be ready for an upgrade in the electronics when the bug bites.

DVD won't play and door won't open

Since you purchased a Bose system, I can only assume that you know nothing about electronics.  Therefore, I would suggest you take it to a repairman rather than try to open it.
Or, you could just buy something that isn't Bose for 1/10th the price and get twice the quality.
If you must be adventurous, you can open the unit and try to figure out what is jammed up and manually remove the DVD.  Again, if you know nothing about electronics, this could get you very hurt or killed.

My daughters locked my dvd player so drawer wont open.

First you do is to unplug the cord of your DVD unit for 5 hours in order to drain the stored current, the purpose is to reset the unit. After the 5 hours plug the DVD see to it if it open If not .Then the other option is to open the cover of the DVD unit and unplug the unit again to avoid electricshock . When open already look for the disc platter moved it outward while driving the gear or simply push out. The drawer or door of the DVD player and you will see a small circular disc which is often called turntable or disc platter. When the disc platter is out push it back and push it out you do this three times so the slider mechanism align it properly. If you do already what i said then plug it again and if works already closed the cover. The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and the manufacturer, consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn’t return to the start position (called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There’s a little micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also.

Hope it may help you;

DVD player will not open

Hi, I think the DVD disc was not positioned properly (since yo udid mention that the disc did not play) adn that it has jammed the tray. Please avoid furtherusing the unit as this may damage the eject gear mechanism. Only recommendation is to bring the unit for service and they can physically rmeove the jammed disc.

Panasonic SA-HT680 Home theater problem

Try these steps to reset the unit. I got these from the Panasonic Cust. Service # 1800-211-7262
1. Unplug the unit power.
2. Wait 2-3 mins before replugging the unit.
3. Turn it on.
4. If the display shows INIT / PLEASE WAIT, Press and HOLD the Tune Mode (STOP) button on the main unit. At the same time press #10 (Channel button) in the remote control. They have to be pressed & held simultaneously for atleast 5 seconds. Wait till the INIT / Please Wait display disappears.
5. Once the message disappears, RESTART the main unit by pressing the POWER button OFF / ON.
6. If it does not work, try several times. If it does not work, contact a local repair shop (call them to find out a repair shop near you). If the repair shop wont do it for you, call them back - thats what they told me.

Jammed cd drawer

The best solution is to take off the top cover. It's easy to remove with, I believe, four screws. The carousel is located right underneath the cover, so all the CD's will be exposed. However, I don't think that this will solve the problem of not happening again, since this seems to be a problem with this particular model.
