Question about IBM Deskstar 120GXP 40 GB Hard Drive
When i hook my deskstar hard drive up making sure that the cables are in the right spots and every possible combination of the pin my computer still does not find the hard drive in the bios. I have an Acer Aspire AM1641-U1521A.
That model acer is a newer system; pentium dual-core; so bios limitations should not be an issue. With the 120GXP older drive; check that the 32GB jumper is right. The pins have a label (red text) on the back; ensure it is set to master (according to the far left label) not the right. It will take 2 jumpers; not just one. See how that works. Also, check your bios settings; and ensure the IDE power ... is enabled. (for example secondary) may be disabled. Or, check that "legacy" support is enabled in the bios. Please rank me if this helps.
