Wireless connection terminates

Every so often my gateway laptop wireless connection stops. I have to reboot the system to regain the connection.

I have the same problem with my Gateway Laptop. It just looses it's connection and the only way to get it back is to reboot the laptop. I know it is not the wireless router or modem because others at my house use laptops with the same router and modem and NEVER has this problem. Gateway won't help because it is over one year old. I sure could use an answer.... Wally [email protected]

Gateway 600yg2

I may not be understanding what you are stating, so bear with me;

1) The Wireless Modem antenna wires are up in the Display Assembly,

http://www.mundocorp.com/shopexd.asp?id=1160

In otherwords they should already be there.

2) The 802.11 Mini PCI Card, is a Wireless Module.
It goes in the Mini PCI Compartment, under the Mini PCI Compartment Cover, located on the bottom of the laptop.

It's made by Broadcom,

(Gateway 6002672 part number)

See at the Top right where it states Main, and has a white Side Arrow?
This terminal is where the Black wire (Lead) of the wireless antenna connects to.

The other terminal, AUX, is where the White wire connects to.

REMEMBER, remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery, before working on the laptop. Also follow Anti-Static Precautions.

Gateway laptop NV44 will not connect to my wireless router. Wireless button is on. Device Manager states

Try downloading and reinstalling your network drivers.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Gateway Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Network drivers.

If the above does not solve the problem, try this: Turn the laptop off, remove the power cord, remove the battery, then remove the cover that houses the wireless on the bottom of the laptop. Remove the two antenna wires from the wireless card (make sure you remember which one goes where), remove the wireless card from the slot (you might have to remove 1 or 2 screws that hold it in place. After 20 seconds but it all back together and reboot the computer.

I have a Gateway T-series (Model:W350A) laptop. I just reinstalled Windows Vista and now the computer is not recognizing the built in wireless card. How do I get it to recognize it? Or how do I install the...

Plug in an ethernet cable into your ethernet card port on the left hand side of your laptop. When it connects to the internet click on the Windows update icon in the system tray. It should show you a Realtek Wireless RTL8187b wireless adapter driver update. Install it, you may need to reboot, but in any case you will have wireless networks available to you and you can pull out the ethernet cable. Good luck.

Docking Station problem

You can try to update any system utilities drivers and docking station drivers. However, I found that with IBM and Gateway, when you remove a running machine from the docking station they tend to glitch just a bit and when you redock them they have issues. Your issue is the docking station attachments, I've also seen issues with the monitor only, mouse only and keyboard on the laptop, all not working. I've had a couple that if I used the "safely remove hardware" then they would work when removed then redocked, but not all machines give the safely remove hardware option with the docking station. If yours does, try that. If it doesn't and there are no driver updates or the updates don't work, then, unfortunately, I'm afraid you'll just have to live with restarting after every redock. One other thing you might try is, after redocking, do a hardware search. It may find the attachments. I know this is also a pain, but it may be easier than rebooting every time.

No internet connections found

First, you need to be sure that the wireless networking adapter is enabled.

  1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, click Network Connections.

  3. Check the status of Internet Connection and Local Area Connection that indicates WIRELESS (it's most likely a Broadcom product).
  4. If either item says disabled or not connected, right click and select ENABLE from the menu.
  5. Close all open dialog boxes and windows.
  6. Use the Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration, located in the system tray at the bottom of your screen, to test the adapter.
  7. Double-click the icon with one monitor and 3 wave lines on the right side. Your network should be detected.
If that doesn't pan out, post back and I'll give you Plan B.
