I have my Canon MX420 printer hooked up, my computer recognizes it's existence, and the printer prints fine by itself. However, every time I try to print from my computer via wi-fi, my computer says...

If your printer has the network cable plugged into it then your halfway there. Make sure that as well as having a hard line network cable plugged into your router, you need to connect the printer to the wifi signal as well. On your printer, push your settings button, scroll to your wireless lan setup, and connect to your router and if password protected, enter in the password and you should then be connected to you router, now try printing using your laptop or device through your wireless connection, and it should print. Please post back if you need further instructions or help!

Hello, im trying to install my wirless printer to my wireless computer and im having some difficulties. for example its asking me to check my wireless LAN access point.. I dont know waht that is? im...

The Canon is trying to connect to a wireless router or wireless access point which is connected to your computer network. Your Sprint 3g device is a wireless broadband device for Internet connection and cannot connect to the Canon using this device.
You need a wireless card that connects to the wireless router or wireless access point.
Otherwise you can connect to your printer using a printer cable.

How to hook up a wireless printer to a computer

Does the printer also have some "wired" interface (parallel-port, or USB-port)?

If not, then you need to purchase a router with wireless capability:

1. Connect cable-modem (or DSL-modem) to the 'WAN' (or 'IInternet') port on the router.

2. Connect one of the 'LAN' ports on the router to the network-port on your computer.

3. Configure the wireless-adapter inside the router:
* set an SSID -- the "name" of your wireless network
* encryption-level -- use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'
* a password for your network

4. Configure the wireless printer to connect to that SSID, using the password

5. On the computer, click "Add Networked Printer"

6. Print a "test" page: computer -> wired -> router -> wireless -> printer

Where do i find network key for canon mx340. i am trying to set up wireless connection. I cannot complete wireless connection

The network key is also known as the encryption key or passphrase. It is the password on your wireless network that you have to type in other the computer with a wireless device to connect to the Internet. You normally set it using by connecting to your wireless router using its IP address when it is connected to a computer. Use the Internet to find the default IP address for your wireless router. It is normally in the form 168.192.1.1 or something similar.

The easiest and cheapest way to make this printer to work wireless is to go get a wireless print server like the one from Linksys its model is WPS54G you just connect the printer to the print server that is configured to working wireless on your network and that's it you can now print wirelessly from any computers that you have on your network.

How do i connect the mx700 to a second computer through router

Hi there
Install "File and Print Sharing" on the computer with the printer.
This will allow the printer to be shared across the network.
However, the computer with the printer will have to be on in order for wireless clients to print through the router. It's not the most flexible solution, but it will work with existing equipment.
1. Click on "Start -> Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes."
2. Select the printer to be shared and right-click on it.
3. Select "Sharing."
4. Put a check mark in the "Share This Printer" option and give it a descriptive share name.
5. Click "OK."
6. Click on "Start -> Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes" on the computer that needs print access through the wireless router.
7. Select "Add a Printer," then hit the "Next" button.
8. Choose "A Network Printer" and hit the "Next" button again.
9. Click "Browse for a Printer," then "Next."
10. Find the printer you want to print to, then click "Next."
11. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish setting up the printer.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Set up 2 wireless routers, 1st for printer, 2nd for internet

You should only need one wireless router for everything. The purpose of the router is to "route" multiple devices together. Your set-up should be something like this:

Modem connected to wireless router via Ethernet cable.
Wireless router broadcasting wireless internet connection.
Computer(s) connected to wireless router via cable or wireless adapter.
Computer with network printer sharing enabled.
Turn on wireless printer.
You should be able to detect the printer via Windows.

Canon MX700 network problems

Once you have it installed and working on the USB port go to the properties page of the printer.
1) Select the "Ports" tab.
2) Select "Add Port".
3) Select "Canon BJNP Port".
4) Select "New Port".
5) Fill in the IP Address of your printer and select "Next".

Make sure that the Port is checked back in the properties page and select "Apply" and your done. Do a test print and your printer should work on your network. You may still need to fix the settings on your firewall or router to allow access if it does not print.
