Question about Garmin StreetPilot C330 GPS Receiver

2 Answers

I need an instruction book. I have a small booklet that is not giving me enough infomation. I think I should have a shortest route to destination. I have no choice. It took me directly to my destination on one trip the next time it would not give me the street I wanted and gave me a drive instead of Court and took me to an entirely wrong direction...

It gives bad directions. Is there a way to reset

usually bad directions is a result of a low battery. That is assuming it often takes a long time to give the instruction or says turn right when it should be left.

The unit should be fully charged by AC or USB orior to plugging into vehicle power.

Also check that you have NOT got shortest route selected as this is often misleading in the way it takes you to your destination. Shortest can be the most torturous or even the longest in some instances.

Can i program a route that i normally take instead of the route the gps gives me

After you program your destination using 'Navigate to...', you can specify your specific instructions by using 'Find alternative' -> 'Travel via' and/or 'Avoid part of the route' until the generated route largely satisfy your requirements. then finally, 'Calculate alternative'
Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

Binatone A 430. I cant get the machine to use

It appears that the guide book is incorrect, the book states that the departure point should be entered first. The car is then automatically redirected to that point instead of the destination.
I entered the destination point first and the departure point last and the system worked well.

The guide book on page 17 is incorrect.

Does not give shortest route when requested.

its probably not the gps itself. there could be a few reason why you might think its not giving you the shortest route.

  • the maps might not have recent roads added, depending how old there are, making it seem like the gps isnt giving you the shortest route, when in fact, according to its database based on your location and your destination.

the same would apply if you used the fastest time. if the database in the gps says the road is 65mph and the local township reduced the speed limit on that road to 45mph due too to many accidents, then you gps is not going to be accurate.

if you feel thats not the case, i would suggest getting the firmware update for your 4000 and the map update. both can be found HERE

Navi g tells you to turn when you're right on the corner-too late

Hi

In the actual menu of your Nuvi there are different settings for getting to your destination via either
a) fastest route
b) shortest distance

Unfortunately quite often when the Nuvi is set to fastest route it will do all it can to get you onto the motorway or a main road as this is the way the software is set up. When in fastest route mode it cannot figure out that to go on the motorway in this instance is not the most convenient route for you to take at all.

If you change to shortest distance mode (its under the navigation menu I think) you will find it will take you by the route to your Nannas you would normally expect to go.

Sometimes this function is hard to work out as to which is the appropriate setting for a particular journey - you will need to experiment a bit with it but the general rule is if it is in fastest route mode it will look for motorways and main roads and ignore the convenient little back roads that we all know in our own locality.

You may find as general rule that if you plan a journey to somewhere thats within your local area its better to select shortest distance mode.

Fastest route may work better for longer journeys.

Hope this helps. Please do rate my answer. Many Thanks.

Return trip

Have you selected how you want to get there, shortest distance, or fastest trip. You can set these under the wrench menu, If you aim for fastest, usually it will select all highway, if you select shortest distance it will calculate a trip that will drag you through every nook and cranny, usually quite entertaing (sightseeing)
