I would love to find the definitions for the beeping code on the Sony Viao Desktop to help determine why I am stuck in a black screen while my machine continues into windows 7. I know it has gone into Windows 7 because I hear the entry music plain as day. This **** black screen has me perplexed. I am an old horse at solving problems and good at it. This one baffles me.

Anyone with any ideas respond please.

Whoops! I did not want to get hopes up. Mine was a question, not a solution.

One long beep and two short beeps usually means a video problem. If you have an add-on video card, try replacing it with a new one. If you are using an on-board video, go into the bios and turn it off. then shut down & install an add-on card.

1 LONG BEEP 2 SHORT BEEPS

Does anything ever post to the screen when you press the power button? if not, it's your video card. The links below are for 1 long and 2 short and they say it's the video card. I've heard that Sony extended the warranty on some models so you might want to go to their website and check yours or in a google search type: Sony GPU Extended Warranty. I did and I see they extended it from one to three years. They have the faulty Nvidia Graphics Card which was a major problem for many manufacturers.

I checked the ram modules and the thing is when i press to start the computer the led on the screen doesn't turn green , i get either one long beep or 3 beeps, and the screen remains black and it doesn't...

One long beep + 3 short beeps denotes a video problem for Sony Vaio. Unfortunately it doesn't get more specific. If you have a video card, try re-seating the card. Try using a different monitor. Try upgrading the drivers (probably here: http://www.driverboost.com/lp/drivers/update/ati-video-drivers.php ) of course you will have to go to a different PC to download them onto a CD/dvd and try to run them. You might consider trying to boot into safe mode and doing a system restore. It could be many things. Without more information I can't really be of much more help. Hope one of these works for you.
Good luck

The only thing works on my 600 series is fan-nothing to screen

You can try reseating the memory and video card. You just pull them out and put them back in. Disconnect the power cord before. Also, the machine should beep. Those beep codes have diagnostic meanings. Listen to the beep, and google it: like 2 short 1 long or 4 short.

If the machine doesn't beep, the motherboard is bad.

it depends on the beeping
but i guess it's ur graphic card
make sure that the card is firmly in place and also check the memory modules.

My Sony VGC-RA826G Desktop turns on and then beeps 3 times...monitor has black screen

Sounds like a memory error. Try pulling out one stick at a time until it is able to boot. Assuming, of course, you have more than one stick. If not, buy or borrow a new stick and try that. With 3 beeps the bad stick is likely to be in DIMM slot 1.

Sony vaio pcg k 15 notebook beeps on starup

If you hit some keys and then it starts - it indicates a stuck key on the keyboard. Check the keys to make sure they are all fully up and nothing has been spilled on them or gotten stuck under them. Keys can be removed usually by prying gently under the edge and replaced by pressing down firmly. Probably what is happening is the if a program opens and you see a series of 4's is that the "4" key is the one sticking partially and preventing boot up. The beeeep is simply to tell you something is wrong with hardware, ie: keyboard, mouse, memory will all generate a long beep or several short beeps. The owners manual will list beep codes to help you determine where to look to find the problem.
