LG dvd external drive not recognized by computer

ERROR 43? Check your SATA connection.
HERE'S HOW I FIXED MINE.
(IE. Computer tries to install driver for BD burner, but ultimately fails, and gives the message. "Unsuccessful" and/or "Microsoft Windows stopped device. Error 43") The SATA CONNECTION on my BD burner's EXTERNAL CASE had gone bad.
TO TEST IT. I used a SATA/IDE to USB Adapter Cable I bought for about $10 on amazon.
  • I unscrewed the external case to get at the internal drive, and plugged the SATA adapter cable directly into the internal BD burner drive (bypassing the case assembly), and plugged the other end into my computer USB port.
    • PS My BD burner POWER was working OK, so I left the big white 4pin power adapter connected to the original external case.

VOILA! Both my laptop and my desktop PC recognized the LG BD burner again and assigned it a drive letter (like it used to do).

  • Now I either need to (1) Buy a NEW EXTERNAL case ($10 - $30), (2) install it as an internal drive (could get problematic if "ANYDVD" is installed) or (3) just leave it connected via the cheap adapter cable.
It's super EASY (& inexpensive) to TEST this before spending $$$$ on a new equipment.
Hope this helps someone. It had me miffed for a while there.

I need an Iomega external hard drive 1GB That is USB 2.0 and 3.0 compatible. I don't know if the dual ones come in portable ones. Need the names of any of their models that would fit my needs....

I don't know the names of any of their models but if you buy one that is USB 3.0 compatible, you will be fine. USB ports are always backwards compatible so buy a 3 and it will work fine on a 2.

I just purchased a Nexxtech Micro SD Adapter and windows xp sp3 will not recognize it at all....nothing...nada....I assume there is a driver problem with my computer usb....I am using a Logiix lgx-79041...

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. This is not a driver problem of usb because the Logiix is working fine. Are you using an external card reader or the built in card reader of your computer when connecting the Nexxtech adapter? Can you also provide the make and model of the computer. Please provide the information needed to be able to fix the issue.
Thanks

My computer wont recognize my external hard drve and the io magic light is blinking

Try connecting the external hard-drive to a different computer. If it still fails, and it is still under warranty, then exercise the warranty to get it replaced.

If the warranty has expired, open the case, and remove the disk-drive, disconnecting it from the USB-to-disk-drive adapter.

Connect the disk-drive as a "slave" disk-drive in some desktop computer, to see if the disk is recognized.
If it is, then the USB-to-disk-drive adapter has failed, and you could go to any computer-store to buy a new external case and adapter, and mount your disk-drive inside the new case, and work with your files.

If the disk-drive is not recognized, check the warranty on the disk-drive itself.

Simpledrive external HD,repeatedly is recognized, then dissconects

Try connecting it to a different computer, it the problems occurs on a different computer then it is most likely the Simpledrive.
The next thing I would try is to test the power adapter (if it has one and not it is internal) with a multimeter, check the output voltage (the voltage is printed on the label on the adapter) it should be slightly higher than the label's voltage.
Try another compatible adapter and see if this solves your problem.
If it is not hte adapter then it is the USB electronics in the unit is faulty, the hard drive in the unit would be OK.
You could buy a new USB hard drive case adapter and transfer your hard drive to this case and you will have an exernal hard drive again.
OR
Borrow an USB hard drive adapter first to test your hard drive before you buy a new USB hard drive case.
