IF IT GOES BACK UP WITHIN 5 SECONDS OF CLOSING IT IS THE DOWN LIMIT.

IF MORE THAN 30 SECONDS SEE BELOW.

Anytime a door opens and/or closes by itself I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door.

Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.

The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.
Or a remote in someone’s purse that gets the button pushed by other stuff in the purse.

The test is to disconnect the push button wires at the power unit. If the self operation stops you have located the problem. If you reconnect the wires and disconnect the wire at the wall button this will tell you if the problem is the wire or the button.

HOPE THIS HELPS

Door will reopen after being locked by key or remote

This may be because the door control computer does not see all the doors locked or closed all the way, make sure the doors are all closed completely and the door ajar light on the dash is off, If this is not the problem then the door control computer or the body ECU may be faulty.

Door opens and will not close

Will it just not close like it is hitting something? If this is the case, take a look where the door hits the striker on the door itself. That may be jammed closed. If this is the case, pull the handle on the door like you are opening it and use a screwdriver or something to manually open the mecanizm (Can't spell that word but I hope you understand). This will reopen the thing and should work. As to the cause of why that happened you may have more to deal with. I hope this helped you. Good luck.

Upon pressing open/close button kitchen door the garage starts to close but then reopens after 3-4". one must then hold button until door is fully closed. what is remedy?

The problem is that your system does NOT "see" the safety "eyes" sensors. Make sure that your sensors are properly connected to the opener (both sensors should have lights on them, one amber and another green). If they do not, check the wiring and the connections at the opener itself.

2002 Honda Odyssey: sliding door jolts/reopens when closing

Please check the aft track roller assembly. It is easiest to inspect from the rear of the van looking forward when the door is open. You'll see the rear hinge assembly clearly. The track rollers cannot be seen but you can pull outboard on the rear edge of the door--the door should not move outboard more than 1/8 of an inch. If it moves out more than this or feels sloppy, suspect damaged/missing track rollers. This will cause the hinge to chatter in the track and "jolt". It will also cause the door to misalign during the close phase preventing the close motor from properly engaging.
Replacing this part is no easy task but doable if you are good with cars. Check back here for more details if you want to try it, otherwise get a competent mechanic or the Honda dealership to do it.

Sunroof on 2003 jetta tdi won't close. it has power, and operates, but will always reopen, by itself, when it is almost closed. ???

There may be something obstructing the path. Possibly the wind deflector? It's also possible that the sunroof knob is out of sync with the sunroof itself. Try putting your key in the drivers door lock, turning and holding that position while the sunroof closes. (not sure which way you have to turn) You can also close it manually with a hand crank (which is actually an allen wrench)

Door opens byitself

You have 2 floor photo eyes that run a beam across so that if a kid runs under the door it will go back up. If the door wont close and goes back up I would check to make sure those lights on the 2 photo eyes are lined up properly. Here is a link also Click Me If you cant get it to stay close there is a emergency cable that you can release to close the door until you can get it figured out. Lost of good info here as well. If this Info was useful please rate me and have a great day.

Garage door closes then reopens (does not stay shut)

On the side of your opener you will find the down limit control. Using a small screwdriver turn this control in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. May take some tweaking to get it just right.
