The default password is 136900. This is the factory password. This information can be found at the following link. http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?scy=US&slg=AEN&cat=DVD_HOME_THEATER_CA&sct=DVD_PLAYERS_SU&session=200906 It is in the owners manual on page 47. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

I had the same problem. In actuality, I bought this player specifically to play the .avi/divx movies I had downloaded off the internet. It did.
SOME of them.

And others it wouldn't recognize the disc, saying "No Disc".
I wondered if it was the player? Bad DVD's? How I was burning them? And I threw out a lot of good burned discs before I figured out the problem.

The Problem?
SOME of my discs, I had burned using the Window's Vista drag and drop feature. This feature tells you to simply drag your files to the disc, and it will burn them. It does. And if perfectly effective with regular photo or document files.
But for some reason, the .avi files will not play on the DVD player.

The Solution?
The Discs that worked, I had burned using a program such as Nero or Roxio. Those programs actually code the discs and finalize them.

Now, if I want the disc to play on my player, I make sure I always burn it using Nero or Roxio or another program that is specifically for burning, instead of the windows drag and drop feature. It's also faster this way.

Hope this helps you.

My child lock is on on my phillips 755vr dvd player how do i turn it off without the remote

Basically, the child lock feature is a security feature to keep the children away from unauthorized video content.
Your best bet is to get an original replacement remote.

You may try this general step to unlock without the Remote. However, it may not work for all the models.
Please hold down the Power button on the Player until "CHILD LOCK" or the "Key symbol" disappears from the front panel display. The Player will be unlocked.

If you had set a code number - the override code should be able to resolve the issue. Please follow the below steps to enter the override code.
1. Press SYSTEM MENU to display the Setup menu.
2. Use the Number buttons to enter the 6-digit number
"210499". The previous password will be cleared.

Hope this helps you in resolving the issue.

Thank You,
Ravi Yelde

My grandfather cant remember the code for parental controls. it is stuck on pg. can it be reset with out the code

Forgotten the parental control password? there is a way around this. According to the user manual (page 34) for this particular model:

Enter "788444" even if 4 digits "----" appears, then press [ENT]
to clear the current password.
Enter a new password and set the parental lock level again if required.

Note: DVD video discs may or may not respond to the parental lock
settings. Make sure this function works with your DVD video
discs.

You need the original unit's remote to do this. It cannot be done without it.

There is a .pdf of the user manual online.

http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/sanyo/dwm390.html

(It is free to download for personal reference in case you have lost your original copy.)

I hope this helps a tad.

'enter password' command

Try using the password 136900. If this works for you, then using your remote, access the general setup menu and choose the Disc Unlock option.
Hope this helps!!

Password reset

The Rating menu allows you to block playback
of DVDs based on their ratings.
Setting the Password & Rating Level
The DVD player allows you to block playback
of inappropriate content with a passwordprotected
Rating system (not all discs are rated).
A. From Stop mode, press SETUP.
B. Select Rating and press ENTER.
C. Select Rating and press ENTER repeatedly to set the rating from 1 (most restrictive)
to 8( least restrictive ).
If a password has already been set, the lock icon will be closed. You will not be
able to select Rating until you SELECT the correct password using the 0-9 keys.
D. Select Password.
E. Use the 0-9 keys to SELECT a 4-digit password and press ENTER. The lock icon will
close to indicate that the rating and password are set.
F. Press SETUP to save and exit.
Not all DVDs are rated.
DVDs that are rated higher than the level you select will not play without SELECTING
the correct password.
If you forget your Rating password, select 8888 to clear the memory. Keep this password
out of reach of children as if will always unlock the Parental Control setting.

Does not play divx/mpeg4 files on dvd disk!!

The player plays strictly DIVX files, but not variants like XVID (which today is more common since divx became not free).
Divx is actually the same than XVID. After spending days converting my files from xvid to divx, realized that changing only the FOURCC code of the files works.
Look for a program named videoinspector. It allows to edit the fourcc for a video file. for all xvid and variants change the fourcc of the files to DIVX. The change takes a second instead hours of conversion, and movies in xvid that used not to play on this device, now will be played without problems.

LG HT762 DVD Player won't play divx anymore?

Try to unplug the player for a few seconds and then plug it back. It should work again with the DivX files. I had an identical problem and since then, it works just fine.

DVD DOESNOT PLAY REAL PLAYER VIDEO

This model cannot play real player video files your model work on DVD, CD, and on the following compressed file formats:

Compression formats - MPEG1 , MPEG2 , DivX 3.11 , DivX 4.x , DivX 5.x , DivX 6.0

Your player can play only mpeg , avi , and divx, not real player .rm files. I don't think there are many DVD that can play real player files around.
