When i go to the options and then the advanced options, it has where i should be able to change the tone but its greyed out and i cant use it. i have the JBL platinum series and so im guessing that i should be able to have more bass then minimum, theres basically no bass coming out as of now.

How can I change tone setting

You could try volume control > advance > Tone Controls. This will only work if you have decent sound card. Grey-ed out with lower end hardware. The other option is to use a media player with an EQ. Like VLC or Winamp.

Buzzing noise z4 logitech speakers

Hi Haley,
I also enjoy good Music and excellent sound from my speakers that i have and know what you going through. There is two problems that i see here. One is that your bass speakers is dying on you from the excess bass that has been exerted throught it or have you tried lowering the adjusting bass from the contol panel?
Try adjusting the bass and if that doesnt work aleast you've identified your problem.
Thanks Haley for using Fixya.Good Luck.

My subwoofer on my philips 5.1 speaker system is constantly generating lots of bass noise even on mute.

I assume you are using XP. Try these steps.
1. Open 'Sound and Audio devices' in Control Panel.
2. Select 'Advanced...' button near bottom. b2053f1.jpg

3. Select 5.1 system 972ed04.jpg

4. Start playing a sound.
5. Set the volume control of the subwoofer to the middle position.
6. Open volume control and adjust Master volume to a comfortable level (i.e. until there is no hum).

Also make sure you haven't muted any sound device except microphone. I think your problem is you have set it to the maximum level. So decrease it.
7. Mute the sound and check.
Good luck! Let us know the result.

Cant connect rear speakers

Hey there Subaquakid, the nature of surround systems is to identify separate extra channels of information and send them to the right address, being the selected speaker. In order for the rear speakers to work they need to be sent a signal. The media which you are using may not have the rear channel encoded. therefore the rear speakers have nothing to announce. Please ensure your source cd has the suround feature encoded. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Speaker/sub bass

Hi, it is possible that the sub volume control is worn out. If your particular brand/model uses the rotary/wiper type (variable resistor) then replacing it should do the trick but this involves soldering which be done by an electronics technician or qualified to perform such repairs/replacement. Hope this helps. Cheers.
