Sony vaio built in camera not working

The Sony Notebook computers are shipped either with the Arcsoft WebCam Companion or the VAIO Camera Capture Utility.
1. Click on start, in the search bar type, Webcam Companion or VAIO Camera Capture Utility to find what is shipped.
2. If both are missing, then check if the drivers are installed for teh camera in device manager.
Press the Windows logo+R keys together to open Run Window.
3. In the Run Window, type "devmgmt.msc" without quotes and press the enter key.
4. In the device manager window, check if Imaging Devices is listed and has the Sony Visual Communication Camera driver installed.
5. If that is missing then, install the respictive software i.e; Webcam Comapnion or the Visual communination driver and camera capture utility.
You can install the drivers from the Sony support home page.

You can use the VAIO Camera Capture Utility Software installed in the Computer to capture images and record Videos. You can access the VAIO Camera Capture Utility from "Start", "All Programs", VAIO Camera Utility and clicking the VAIO Camera Capture Utility.

If the Application is not available in your Computer, you can re-install it from the below link.

Please open the above link in a new web browser window to download the file. Then, please save the file on the Desktop. After that, please double click on the downloaded file to begin the installation. After installing the file, please restart the Computer for the settings to take the effect.

The built-in Motion Eye Camera is designed to add video functionality to many instant Messaging or video editing Software applications (such as Windows Messenger or MovieMaker). However the configuration process and support for how to set-up these individual applications is provided by the Software manufacturer, not Sony. Follow this procedure to take still image pictures with the integrated Sony Motion Eye camera.
1. On the taskbar, click Start and then click My Computer.
2. In the My Computer window, double-click the Sony Visual Communications icon.
3. In the Sony Visual Communications window, under Camera Tasks, click Take new picture.

Follow this procedure to capture video with the integrated Sony Motion Eye camera.
1. On the taskbar, click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Windows Movie Maker.
2. In the Windows Movie Maker window, on the left side under Capture Video, click Capture from video device.

Can you see your image there?
If not, download and install the camera driver from here:

You can download Camera driver utility from support website and use that to capture videos with in-built camera.

You need to re-install the Camera Driver after installing the Vista Operating System in the Computer. Please try installing the WIndows XP Camera Driver and the Vista Camera Application in the Computer to resolve the issue.

You can download the Camera Driver here.

Please download and save the file in a folder in the Computer. Then, please open the folder where the file is saved and double click on it to begin the installation. After installation of the Driver, please restart the Computer for the settings to take the effect.

Then, please download and install the Vista Camera Application and Updates in the Computer.
