Sounds like you have a defective peripheral. Disconnect everything except the hard drive, memory, and monitor and see if it boots. If it does then one of the disconnected items is at fault. If you have multiple memory sticks, just go with one at a time and see what happens.

Unless reinstall disk is defective it should work unless there is a hardware issue.

El 1358g-51w, one beep at start and says operating system missing

Your hard drive has gone bad. You will need to replace the hard drive, and reinstall the operating system with the system recovery discs you created when you first purchased the computer.

No sound after format

When you format a computer hard drive you will lose EVERYTHING on the drive. Chances are that you did not reinstall the necessary sound drivers to operate your speakers.

Error message NTLDR missing on formatted hard drive

You need to either reinstall windows, or take the hard drive out, hook it up as a spare drive to a working computer and copy NTDLR to the root of the laptop hard drive. It would be much easier to reinstall windows. You can always use the recovery portion of Windows, but if I were you I would just do a format and reinstall. NTDLR is just a startup file for Windows XP, that does not mean your hard drive is gone or anything. Please don't forget to rate!..Thanks

CANT BOOT FOR REINSTALLATION OF XP, IT SEZ "NTLDR" IS MISSING, ALSO MENTIONS SOMETHING ABOUT THE HARD DRIVE NOT WORKING

If you have the OS disks try a repair first. Run the OS disk and choose the repair option rather than reformatting. That usually fixes ntldr issues.

Scanjet G4000 Since replacing my hard-drive can't get unit identified to function. Told unit not connected. Tried to remove program but failed ( Was told that solution to problem was to remove program then...

Try just reinstalling without uninstalling first. Sounds like when you replaced your hard drive, that you did not reinstall the driver for the scanjet. The installation disk will have the driver for the device.
